Maybe a guy like this is the key to Mose re-working his switchy defense to allow for more freedom for perimeter guys to gamble and get easy buckets. WCJ is looking like a solid starter, but he'd be an amazing sub, perhaps next to Moe. Don't know if ORL has the chips to get it done, but I think HOU is showing the league what the near future looks like...offensive boards with enough ball pressure and length to limit the breakouts going the other way.

I really can't guess what Kessler's trade value is or his next salary...He's not a GREAT player and is very far from a complete player or All-Star, but he might just be the missing piece. He may not even be a more valuable player than WCJ or Suggs, all things considered, just a role player that can change the whole game plan. Goga could probably match his numbers, but nowhere near his impact.

Maybe if the package started with AB and UTA felt that AB would be the perfect complement to Keyonte...

ORL sends: Black, Isaac, 2032 frp (I think that's all we got?)
UTA send: Walker Kessler (re-upped SnT, $22m x 4yr)

Kessler is done for a season due shoulder surgery.

I know...I'm thinking summe, maybe even TD

Gafford is right there. But Dallas doesn't even have GM so who knows what's going on with them.

I like Gafford (and Claxton...) but I feel like Kessler is in a defensive category above, in terms of impact...closer to Gobert's...and those offensive boards - we learned about that last night.

I don't think Kessler should be the answer for us. Why didn't Utah extend him while preserving the asset of him? Maybe they are not convinced that he could be their franchise center.

I think our center rotation is fine. We need another guard to replace Tyus if we're not going to play Jase.
Play Jase or Trade for Alvarado

Tyus is here for one season before Jase starts getting minutes.

It's a total non-issue when Suggs and AB are healthy and playing minutes.

On the other hand, Isaac is washed, and when Mo comes back he can inject offense not defense.

WCJ / Goga don't do anything that shows on a stat sheet particularly well. Other then WCJ on / off numbers which tells me he is a "do the dirty work" that doesn't fill the stat sheet type.

But this also means we can look for another player who can shoot and get us some additional rim protection or i dunno, a rebounder? Is that possible?

Do you guys see a scenario that could bring Anthony Davis to Orlando? His value might be low right now plus he could help our center rotation by protecting the rim. He is still Top 20 in the league when healthy. How is his fit with Paolo? Just speculation

Nope, I cannot see such a scenario. Doesn't fit the timeline, doesn't fit the cap sheet, doesn't fit the build.

The team is the team. Outside of a minor trade, Weltman has married himself to this roster

Let me ask you another question: What is our timeline then? To contend in the next 3 to 4 years?

We are all-in. We are contending now. We do not control our draft picks in alternating years and have a mature cap sheet. Paolo is 23, Franz and Suggs are 24, Bane is 26. The window is 3-5 years. Based on results we'll retool or double down along the way.

Do we control our own picks or another first round pick for the 2026 NBA Draft? I thought we had the Phoenix pick (well, complicated pick) and traded it to Memphis. So we should have our own?

Again, away from my point, I really like this OKC team. Shai is not even playing in the 4th Q now plus the mergence of AJ Mitchell. They locked in their core plus a bunch of young players, including Carson Wallace, Dort and AJ Mitchell along with a load of first round picks.

I know I know Magic is low on draft capitals.

Let me ask you another question: Is this Magic franchise capable and feasible to make another major trade if somehow we need to double down?

With tools like spotrac available for free, I still don't understand how people can't still understand how cap situation works
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett
Franz, TDS, Panda
P5, JI, Panda, Moe

We traded our 2026 first round pick which has swap rights. We only ever had one pick in 2026. We also traded firsts in 2028 & 2030 and swap rights in 2029.

We can't trade the 2027 or 2031 due to the Stepien rule.

In other words our draft equity is limited to rotation quality acquisitions. The midsized contracts of WCJ, JI, and Goga are also valuable to a degree. We'll be roster building at the margins for the next five seasons.

Cheap guards that can be acquired for 2nds or less will probably be the targets. Ty Jerome, Alvarado, Kris Dunn, Jevon Carter, Marcus Sasser, Collin Gillespie.

If Mo looks good I think there could be a world where they move Goga.

I'd also call the Kings on Devin Carter if they are done with him. Probably a longshot and probably want someone more proven, but I'd give him a chance.
