He's 7'5", sadly, it'd be surprising if he wasn't injury prone.

7'5 and moves like a 6'5 guy.

Will be interesting to see how SA manages him over the course of his career. Kid has GOAT potential but he's either gotta tame his game a bit (until playoffs) or they're going to have to keep him on min/game restrictions to keep him playing when it matters most.

Hope he has a healthy career because we're witnessing something truly special and one of one.

This might be good for Spurs as Victor will never get paid max money.

1. Spurs already have way too many wins to tank for Dybantsa, the team that drafts him will likely have no more than 15 wins

2. You could tell the Spurs Wemby is only good for 45 games a year and he's still getting max money

Wemby needs a shortened season to extend his career.

Are you aware that there's a requirement to qualify for max contract? 45 games is not enough.

Certainly unfortunate, but could be worse.

Might only have a few seasons in his career with All NBA at this rate.

Spurs only play 3 games each of the next 4 weeks. So even if he misses 4 weeks, that's only 12 games. If it's 3 weeks, that's only 9.

But yea he's not very durable and he would have to be for the rest of the way.

Calf strain, they won't mess around. 12 games now but over the year, more.

Yeah if it was later in the year.. different, but its early and he could miss games here and there to still total up to 18.

I honestly think he’s talented enough to score just 20 per game and be w rim protector all season long and still get high seeds, and then Amp the scoring and touched up in the playoffs as needed. The blueprint for that happened right in front of them with Tim.

Boo, I got tickets to see him vs Jokic in Denver the day after Thanksgiving. Injuries stink. A couple season ago, I went to watch my Pacers vs the Nugs and both Haliburton and Jokic missed the game. At least that time Jokic was sporting this look on the sideline to make up for it.

VW is always going to have injury issues.

just like Ralph Sampson, he will be lucky to have an NBA career +5 years.

AD vibes?

So far, worse (if you include the blood clot issue as an injury) AD missed 75 games in his first 5 seasons. Wemby will now exceed that in his 3rd season.

I pray to the basketball gods that this is not the case. I have felt that pain with Embiid for the last decade.

Honestly not a good look that Wemby seems to have troubles staying healthy during the regular season.

Playoff basketball is 10x more intense, at this rate he might last 2 rounds at best.

If I'm the Spurs I'm intentionally limiting him to 60 regular season games until his prime. Who cares if people get mad, I might have the most impactful player in NBA history and the only cost is he misses 20 regular season games on a stacked team for a few years. Your GM would trade everything for that.

Sadly there are a lot of people who are just dying to say they were right about Wemby injuries so they will spend the next 10 years going "if it hasn't happened yet, it's about to happen". People prefer to feel like they're right over feeling like they are doing the right thing.

It's just a few weeks. They'll be fine. They have been masterful with load managing him so far - something that wasn't done with the tall C's who lost their career to injury. I'm ROOTING for basketball coaches to figure out how to manage a guy that tall because that means we don't have to lose super talented and tall players to injuries and the whole NBA becomes better.

Hate that he's in our conference but I don't want injuries to be what defeats him.

No real reason to watch Spurs games until his return.

Same. I was upset to hear he was injured after supporting GSW to win the game.

Hope they can sort out some sort of regime which allows him to prosper. OKC seem to be have managed to keep Chet Holmgren on the court for a title and so far in the new season. He has had fractures with no sequelae, although they were appropriately cautious with the Lisfranc injury.

50% this is just bad early luck, 50% these injuries are a sign of things to come. Crossing fingers.

They don’t actually know with this sort of soft tissue injury.
