SAS is young but greatly improving. So how far away are they from being a playoff team? Really contending for Western championship?

I don't understand why people think the Spurs are a contender.

They are 3 years away.

They have to get playoff experience first.

Then they are gonna have to learn how to win in the playoffs.

Then Wemby is going to become strong enough to withstand playoff defenses.

That's a multi-year process, not something you do in an off-season.

They're a playoff team this season if health doesn't hurt them too bad.

Maybe conference finals next year. Then true contender the year after. Obviously this depends on development and additions they make in the next couple years.

A team’s chances of contending rise or fall with the talent and depth they have in the backcourt.

Wemby is good enough that if the supporting players play well they could be in the WCF this year. And I don’t care what team it is (OKC or Denver), I wouldn’t want to play a fully healthy Spurs/Wemby. Things happen and you never know. Could catch a lucky break. A if they caught a break and played well in the WCF they could take down any eastern conference team IMO.
