Jovic is playing out of position, i get it, but it has body language thats an issue for me.

I dont want to start a rant right now.

He gives me the same vibe I had about Drob last year.

Its not the body language for me as much as it is the BBIQ. Some say his play is fatigue from playing on the national team over the summer, which is the same excuse we gave Bam for his start last year. But how does that impact his BBIQ? He looks legitimately dumb out there. And he's getting played off the floor on both ends. It's definitely becoming a huge problem.

Shouldnt have extended him.. i said that a million times this offseason.. dont extend herro, dont extend jovic, offer davion his QO..

Who are we bidding against.. our damn selves per usual.. and per usual, we screwed ourselves with a bad contract, after getting rid of one in duncan robinson..

Key stat: Heat are leading the league in giving up opponent 2nd chance points at 19.7 pts per game.

I'm curious about giving Keshad Johnson a little more of chance.

Heat was rank 5th in defense two games ago. If they can get the rebounding under control they can be back in the top 5.

And what is his position? Spo is playing him at wing because he can't play him as a big. Abd his flaws are being highlighted as a wing. He's fouling alot because he can't keep up on the perimeter. I still think he's a face up 4, but outside of some perimeter skills, he has nothing.

Whenever there was a big, wiggins, Jaime, and even pelle were given that responsibility before jovic.

Honestly, I think his biggest problem is Jaime.

And when guarded by smaller guys in post or elbow, he often does nothing with his size advantage

Usually just passes out with his tail between his legs

We have a guy returning soon who solves both of those problems.

When it comes to Herro, nobody will offer him anywhere near what the Heat will give him. Doubt there is even a bidding war or legitimate offer from other teams. As for Jovic, I think some teams would make a decent offer based off potential.

My issue with Jovic is not the contract. He needs to play with more physicality. He needs to play like he is 6'10" at 240.

Thats a good question, IDK what his position is. Im thinking he has alot of work on the defensive end. But also his shot isnt falling, which makes me think he has tired legs?

Which fame Twix? How many min did he actually play? That seems like too small of a sample size to gauge. Last time he came in on the first knicks game, and I saw him fly off the screen from a shot fake. He still needs time & reps

Thatll be fixed with Anthony Davis and Bam fortifying the paint.

AD? Please. That man is too fragile to play in this system on a nightly basis. If it weren't for his proneness for injury, I'd completely agree; the paint would be closed with him & Bam patrolling. However if he weren't so injury prone, he wouldn't be available on the market.

The idea of having both AD and Bam providing Ware with on-job training is interesting.

Nice 3-headed monster in the short term and hopefully in the long term makes for Ware maxing out on his potential.

Again, at the right price, I'd support this direction.

Same with Zion.

The deal is essentially 1 injury prone guy and a piece or 2 for a much better injury prone guy. It’s risky but there’s a high reward. I wonder if a better option or 2 shake free over the next 2-3 months leading up to the deadline

Yeah, I didn't understand the need to extend Jovic, especially on a fully guaranteed deal. If the deal had been guaranteed for 2 years with a partial guarantee in year 3, and a TO in year 4....ok, sure.

There is a still a significant possibility this turns into McRoberts 2.0.

He's too comfortable playing like a wing for that. He'd have to have that trained in him and would take a couple of seasons.

I question the contract extension more every day.

I agree with those that say we shouldn't have extended him. If Giddey and Kuminga couldn't get more than 25M, what makes the Heat think jovic would get 16-20M, to the point we gave him 4-62 (15-16M)? Idk. Heat are often scared of their own shadow when it comes to bidding and extending their own players.

BUT... I will however point out that he's just 22. He got injured last year and only played 46 games. Before this season he had literally only played in 107 nba games. We also knew that several teams asked about him during trade window last year, so maybe heat did it so he could be included in a trade and locked up long term. His deal hasn't even kicked in yet.

TLDR, I agree we were hasty but let's not punish a young kid with lots of potential, who has unique size and was taken in the first round, just because we are still haunted by the ghost of UDFA duncan.

Let's at least watch and hope he develops and wait until next year when hes actually costing us 15M to complain. In year 3 there's a chance we are all loving this deal and saying "bro i called it".
Fingers crossed.

And hes too slow and unathletic to play as a wing at this pace.

Position less basketball is a bit of a misnomer.

The good teams use it because they can switch everything defensively while being capable offensively. So, size is less of an issue because guys can guard up and down (wiggs regularly guarding pgs to centers in the same game as an example).

The bad teams play positionless because they cant guard anything, yet have offensive skill to be diverse. (Powell struggles to guard his own position, much less switch).

So when you say x player fits because the heat play position -less basketball, which is it? Spo wants to play position-less but the roster is limited. Right now pelle, and especially wiggins have to guard up 1 more level than they should because no one else on the team can guard up nor down. It's why losing bam cratered the defense, hes the 3rd guy that can guard up or down. Spo is switching with guys who cant switch, it's why we've been more effective in a zone and why we've struggled to rebound.
