The DEF rating algorithm the sim is using has been very unrealistic in the past couple of years and it seems like it’s getting worse and worse.

Take a look at this, Bagley has a higher def rating than Tatum. Clarkson and Giddey have a higher def rating than Max Christie. Make it make sense lol

Apparently Kevin Huerter is a better defender than Jimmy Butler, Scottie Barnes, and Davion Mitchell.

smaller sample size (31 games) must have took but Bagley metrically had really good defense at the rim last year (not sure how sustainable it is). Not as many shots attempted on him per game but he was right up there with Chet, Beef Stew, Clingan, Wemby, KP, Gobert, JJJ, and Kessler so he in the company of the league best rim protectors

I was gonna say now do Jimmy, Scottie, and Davion.

Davion I can't find exactly why he didn't get a good defense rating (60's is fine) I would have guessed him in the 70's...that is the uniqueness of DEF rating no one has found exactly how its calculated...but it has to be a combination of a few things

I thought Nesmith would be better...but then again didn't think Kessler would be that good either.

There is a component of player mix and who is on the team and how they fit with other (especially after Bish moves the players to our BAF teams) that can clearly impact some of the ratings.

Barnes while getting stocks (pretty good steals rating) hasn't been an elite defender from the stuff I look at. But still got a good +70 rating

Butler hasn't been a super impact defender in a while. He's mostly going on his younger reputation at this point. But he is still very good in the SIM.

+70 DEF with a high steal rating and 100 DI (meaning he doesn't foul at all). That is an impactful defender.

Bruh.. you know damn well that Bagley should not be rated higher than Tatum.. you going OD to defend the sim. And I get it, you got the ratings you wanted so you think it's all justified, but it's just not realistic at all. A lot of these DEF ratings is bogus. Let's keep it 100 lol

The Spurs lowest DEF rating is 62..every team has players in the 50s, 40s besides them

I'm working the off the same information we all have. You have better overall ratings than me (outside of Joker obviously). I specifically go out of my way to get defenders. It is what it is...

Honestly the 61 DEF rating for Davion makes me question the entire system. Ahh well, like coach Mazz says...

This game HATES role players who don't have an outstanding individual statistic (like steals or something). Like, Davion has underperformed so far so even though his defense has been good his ratings still suffer. It's the part of play that frustrates me a lot. DFS and Aaron Gordon were basically worthless for me.

There's a good chance Davion gets a bump next season now that he's actually getting time and playing well.
