Distinct Drafts Draft - Semi - durantbird vs Fadeaway_J

Post#1 » by durantbird » Yesterday 6:45 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Jrue Holiday 24' - 10.0 - Draft 2009
SG: Anthony Edwards 25' - 20.4 - Draft 2020
SF: Kawhi Leonard 17' - 17.7 - Draft 2011
PF: Karl-Anthony Towns 18' - 14.3 - Draft 2015
C: Isaiah Hartenstein 24' - 4.9 - Draft 2017

Bench: Gary Payton II 22' - 4.8 - Draft 2016
Bench: Bruce Brown 22' - 7.0 - Draft 2018
Bench: Jae Crowder 21' - 8.2 - Draft 2012

87.3/88

PG: Jrue Holiday 36 / Gary Payton II 12
SG: Anthony Edwards 38 / Bruce Brown 8 / Gary Payton II 2
SF: Kawhi Leonard 38 / Bruce Brown 10
PF: Karl-Anthony Towns 26 / Jae Crowder 22
C: Isaiah Hartenstein 36 / Karl-Anthony Towns 12

vs

C - Zubac (36), Reid (12)
PF - O'Neale (36), Reid (12)
SF - George (40), Roberson (8)
SG - White (37), Pritchard (8), Roberson (3)
PG - Harden (38), Pritchard (10)

Matchup:
- Primary defensive assignments: Holiday on Harden, Edwards on White, Kawhi on George, KAT on O’Neale, Hartenstein on Zubac.
- The key edge is how flexible we are: Holiday–Edwards–Kawhi can switch across all perimeter actions, and Payton/Brown/Crowder off the bench keep that disruptive pressure for 48 minutes. The opposing perimeter relies heavily on Harden as the sole creator, and he’s getting one of the best POA defenders of the era every possession.
- Royce O’Neale played PF thanks to his strength, but he’s undersized here: Towns has a 20 cm height advantage and can shoot over him at will, and even Kawhi has an 8 cm edge if they try cross-matching. That mismatch forces their defense into help rotations, which Edwards and Kawhi punish easily. Hartenstein staying closer to the rim while still being mobile gives us even more defensive range without sacrificing protection.
- Offensively, Edwards + Kawhi vs. Harden + George is roughly even in terms of star output, but our depth of options puts us ahead. Towns is an elite third scorer who creates real matchup problems; Holiday as a fourth option is absurd luxury scoring; and Hartenstein as a passing hub in the short roll adds a layer that strains their coverage. The combined actions involving Towns, Edwards, and Kawhi force their bigs and help defenders into constant decision-making, which opens clean looks for our main creators.

Total: 88.0/88.0

This is the quintessential Harden spread pick-and-roll build, with a well-spaced floor and an excellent roll man in Zubac. PG and White are well suited as the second and third option with their ability to shoot as well as attack closeouts once the ball is swung to them on the second side. Reid provides a change of pace off the bench with his lethal pick-and-pop game, and Pritchard gives another off-the-dribble creator who can bomb the deep three. Outside of Zubac, our only non-shooter is Roberson, who can function almost as a backup 5 offensively given the shooting he'll have around him. Defensively, we boast several elite perimeter defenders with positional size and versatility, while Zubac is a formidable deterrent at the rim.

Matchup
- Defensive assignments will be straight up. KAT is the trickiest matchup, but this younger version in particular can be bothered by physical wings who get into his body and deny him position. Zubac drops to wall off the paint.
- As much as the primary defender, slowing Harden often comes down to how well your bigs can handle him in the pick-and-roll. Both KAT and Hartenstein (especially KAT) provide targets for him to attack.
- Kawhi/Ant/KAT are great individual talents but I think our group meshes better as a collective, especially given our superior passing at the perimeter spots.

Good luck durantbird.
