And I think that's a fact that kinda gets downplayed.
Wemby and Jokic besides LeBron might be the only players I could see who could will whatever the Mavs to win.

SGA could cook with this current Mavs team. This roster is not as bad as people think, IMO. It's just that Cooper can't score or be the playmaker in the way Luka can. But the roster is ill-fitted for Cooper Flag IMO.

Funny how Gafford, PJ Washington and Marshall played a great role on a team that made the finals 2 years before...

They are good role players. If AD and Kyrie were both 100% healthy along with 18 year old Flagg, I think they would've been close to 50 wins.

Yeah, Flagg is around a year younger than Luka coming into the league. Flagg has the potential to score 25 ppg while being the DPOY. That's MVP potential.

Yeah. Also, being on a pretty bad team is not extraordinary for top prospects, Flagg for now is just a role player offensively, he's not a facilitator nor a scorer with his current shooting splits, but let's wait how much he'll improve in the latter part of that season, this is will be much more representative of where he's as a prospect.

Btw people without a specific context probably don't get fully how much Melo and LeBron were great in their rookie seasons. Imagine a rookie scoring 24ppg on a playoff team in the West in 2026, and that's Carmelo, and imagine a player straight from high school averaging 24-6 with God-given athleticism, and that's LeBron. It was so interesting to see where did they go from there.

For me?

Every 10 years or so we get a generational, Top 50 player that puts up numbers and contributes to winning even as a rookie. We also get generational, Top 50 players who need a year or 2 to acclimate to the NBA--especially if they are sub-20 years old. We also get rookies that are going to be great players but need time and are given specific roles by coaches to not be overwhelmed by the transition to the NBA.

I see Flagg as in that second group. I never believed he would just come in and put up huge numbers that contribute to wins. I still believe he'll be a HOF player with a very long career if injuries are kind. He doesn't really have any real weaknesses...it'll be amazing to see how he develops in the lead up to his athletic prime in 6-7 years--which is kind of mind-boggling to think about.

The modern superstar is trending toward ball-dominant scorer while running the offense. The best three players in the league or Jokic/Shai/Luka and they are all offensive hubs, i.e. playmaker/primary option. Flagg strikes me as more of KG-level offensive game/athlete with the option that he can play a more modern stretch on the perimeter. Nobody is going to know his ceiling until Dallas figures out his natural position and role. I don't think he can be a hybrid perimeter player that sets up an offense. He's just too long. He has a Jaden McDaniels level wingspan and length. The physics are just not mathing. You have that high center of gravity with those long arms, you are going to struggle being an every possession primary ball handler. A 6'9" combo guard who dribbles straight ahead in the open court with his head down most of the time. That's just struggling. Get the ball to him in iso where he can one move and cut or pull-up using his size. Get him some plays where he's cutting to the basket in space off screens or clear out so he can finish with length and size. Still high on him. He's going to be really really good. Is he going to be Lebron James? Come on... man.
