I do think the Wizards could use some of this....

Tankathon Big Board #38
NBA DRAFT ROOM (currently mocked pick #26):

Flory Bidunga C – Kansas (Congo) – HT: 6-9 – WT: 225 – WING: 7-2 1/2 – So – A long-armed center with elite physical tools and athleticism. Dominates around the rim and on the boards. A super quick and fluid athlete for his size who changes ends in a flash and is a high flyer.

Draft Notes
Bidunga is a powerhouse of an athlete; 6-10 and explosive off the ground with a rock solid frame and good length.
He’s fairly new to the American game and is improving at a tremendous rate, showing off elite upside.
Bidunga plays above the rim with ease and has really good hands and a soft touch around the basket. Can score with his back to the basket, showing off a smooth lefty jump hook and can step back and shoot it from mid range.
At this point he’s not much of a threat to score from outside but he is capable of hitting a 3pt shot and this will almost certainly be part of his game at some point at the NBA level.
He also shows off some decent ball handling ability in the open court. Can rip and run and push the ball up the floor. His handles are not yet advanced but the promise is there and you can see the potential of what he will become in time.
He moves exceptionally well in the open court and is a high level athlete with great speed, quickness and agility.
He plays with great energy and hustle.

6-9 Freshman PF Illinois David Mirkovic

Was not great vs Alabama last night, but still had 10 pts 10 boards, 2-6 from 3, 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 1 TO

Is he fast? No. Does he have quick burst? No. Is he a high leaper? No... In fact, he kind of runs like Forrest Gump.

But I'll tell you what. He's got moves. He is CRAFTY. He can shoot, he can pass, and he rebounds like crazy.

The way he plays actually reminds me in a way of Kyshawn.

NBA DRAFT ROOM (currently mocked pick #31):

David Mirkovic PF – Illinois (Montenegro) – HT: 6-9 – WT: 255 – WING: NA – Fr – A versatile big forward who rebounds the heck out of the ball and is a solid shooter and scorer. Has legit NBA potential.

Draft Notes
Mirkovic is a big-bodied forward with a very high skill level and a nice looking outside shot.
He can dominate on the boards with his wide frame and strength.
Has range on his jumper and really good looking outside shot.
Moves well for a big guy, even though he’s not a high flyer or the most bursty player.

Sold!

Anyone who gets a 20/20 (or 30/20 like Boozer has done IIRC) is welcomed. Last year, Queen had a 20/20 game early in the season.

Why not get a plodder?
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

Prior to the season there were concerns about Neo's shooting from everywhere. So far he has a 51% TS against weak competition so that might still be an issue.

This is a good episode to check out for a few things…

Going off memory but about 20 min in they talk about Blake Wesley and how he’s had a major impact for the Blazers at pg. Caught my attention, we traded for him and just waived him without even seeing if he could make our roster, seemed strange to me at the time. Maybe they just didn’t want the competition for Bub and clear the way for him. Kind of funny with the problems we’ve had at that position.

Also about an hour in they talk about Queen ..

And at about 1:15 in Sam Veccine comes on to talk draft…

Bub has been low key an mvp for us. Without his tank general qualities, we could have 2 more wins.

Interesting game last night Louisville vs Cincinnati. Cincinnati was undefeated and very strong on defense.

Mikel was off on his shot and seemed a little frustrated shooting 4-15, but still came up big in the 2nd half. He got two steals leading to fast breaks and got to the line 14 times :o

I could tell that he wasn't used to playing a defense like that. He got a couple of turnovers trying to throw lobs that had no chance because the defense was there. His ball handling held up well against the pressure.

The Free throw attempts will keep him efficient. The NBA game has more space so he'll be even tougher to guard. I love Brown but I have to admit that this draft class is very talented so I could understand how someone might want another player.

He played 98 minutes in their first 6 games, then broke his foot 3 weeks ago -- out until late January at least.

Was he good in those six 15-min-a-game outings? Pretty good, yes. Mostly driven by just over 4 steals per 40 minutes. He can't shoot at all.

Yeah you're probably right. Just weird to me they don't even bring him in to camp. He had no shot to beat out Branham? I mean why wouldn't you just see what he can do before you cut him? Perimeter defense is one of our biggest problems. Maybe if he stays here he doesn't break his foot.

I didn't even know he was on the Blazers, I was just surprised listening to this show when the guy starts talking about how good he was for them, I was like seriously? Reminds me of Kris Dunn, Jay Huff, Ryan Rollins, players we just let go, not good enough for us but somehow go to a better team and contribute. :dontknow:

I'm glad he resurrected his career. He's 32.
Nor did we "just let Rollins go" for crying out loud.

doclinkin was the first to trumpet Providence's Kris Dunn.

Dunn had an absurd amount of NCAA steals.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen
