WT says Grizzlies are listening to offers for Ja.

Who has more value Ja or LaMelo?

I'm guessing Ja is the opposite of "Hornets DNA"

Why would that make any sense? Kuzma is a worse player and probably credited with being a lower BBIQ than Miles.

Kuzma EPM cumulative by adding both positive and negative games together for the year.
-10.4

Bridges EPM cumulative by adding both positive and negative games together.
+5.4

Kuzma shooting 26% from deep.

Both with 2 years left on their deal, what is this trade accomplishing?

Charlotte out: Miles Bridges + Tidjane Salaun (or Tre Mann) + Liam McNeeley + 2026 1st (ORL) + 2027 1st (DAL) + 2027 1st (MIA) + 2028 1st (CHA-swap) + 2029 1st (CLE)

Charlotte in: Jaren Jackson Jr

LaMelo ~ Kon ~ Miller ~ JJJ ~ Kalk
Sexton ~ Sion ~ Green ~ Grant (IR) ~ Moose

1 ~ Is this actually enough to get Jaren Jackson Jr if Memphis blows it up?
Memphis could tank this year and next and have a loaded war chest in the 2027 draft. That Dallas pick seems like it should be super valuable and this is 4 total 1sts plus an additional 1st swap and there should be at least a little value in the players the Hornets are sending, so it seems like a pretty rich offer just in general, but I could see a team being really stingy with him because he is honestly really good.

2 ~ Would this actually be a good idea for the Hornets?
Maybe trading that 2027 1st from Dallas is just crazy. This would allow them to keep all their own 1st but would completely deplete their additional assets.

I do think JJJ is about as close to an ideal fit as you could reasonably imagine at PF for the Hornets. Hes a DPOY level defensive force who is great at rim protection and can switch all over the court. Hes a good 3pt shooter so he'll maintain their offense spacing (possibly improve it). He can also play C. His biggest weakness is rebounding, but this team is already really good at rebounding with a smaller PF who is worse at rebounding so I don't think that actually matters at all. His offensive game is a little bit more limited than youd like outside of shooting and finishing, but this team has a ton of shooting at the top of the roster and LaMelo is an elite creator, so this also might not be that big of a deal.

That's the equivalent of 8 first rounders for JJJ.
I wouldn't do it but maybe it would make sense in these circumstances.

Salaun is realistically worth a 2nd round pick in a trade. Same for McNeeley. I don't know if Miles even has a market at all.

The only part of the trade that really significantly worries me is trading the Dallas pick. Id also probably prefer not to throw in the pick swap. I don't really care about losing the players in the deal (I'll be actively happy to have Miles off the team for good).

Yeah take away the swap just in case we Lolcat it, but otherwise I could swallow the rest.

I did read that JJJ was being a bit disgruntled with Ja, I would want that checked first. I don’t want selfish players on the team.

I like him starting at the 5 next to moose at the 4. Moose’s tenacity and defensive versatility work well next to JJJ.

I think I would take Ja if it meant getting JJJ.

I can't think of a better lineup in terms of fit.

Ja/Kon/Miller/JJJ/Kalk is just a great fit.

Would Memphis do Ja/JJJ for Lamelo/Bridges/Sexton/Salaun/Dal 1st?

Trade for JJJ and hire Taylor Jenkins as head coach (say no to Ja).

It would take much more to trade for JJJ alone. You put Ja in the deal and we give up less picks as we would be taking on Ja.

Trade for JJJ alone and you can kiss most of our picks goodbye and this will be our big move Peterson has been talking about.

Not sure if JJJ should be our big fish.

Markkanen and Clayton Jr. for Melo, Miles and 2 lesser first round picks. If Utah wants to reset after new management maybe we could both do a makeover. Lauri looks great, is expensive, but would fit so well here. Clayton is understudy behind Sexton.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

How many 1sts do y'all think it would take to make a MPJ for LaMelo swap workable for both sides? 27 Knicks and 31 Nets unprotected?

If we trade with Brooklyn, I’d prefer Clayton, I like how he’s leading his team in assists.

I’d like Wolf as well, the Jewish Jokic intrigues me, while Clowney would be interesting as a stretch 4.

If we can’t get a great player in return, get a few parts

Could we grab some of Washington intriguing pieces in a trade?

Same about Claxton and I also think Clowney is pretty interesting. I liked him predraft and hes doing some of the stuff I thought he could so far and is still super young.
