As far as I can see Tommy Nance is still on the roster, and based on baseball reference is arbitration eligible as well.
One of the sides is wrong. Not that Nance would get a large increase from arbitration... maybe from minimum to somehwere between $1-$2m

At least per Sportrac, he's still two years away from arb eligibility.

Baseball reference has him labelled as arbitration eligible for the upcoming year (Super 2), with experience of 2 years and 165 days.
That level of service time would make sense to be Super 2, since 165 days would easily be in the top 17% of players with experience between 2 and 3 years. But I don't think its a detail Ben N-S would get wrong, so he must not be arbitration eligible.

Today I learned that Anthony Gose the speedy outfielder who played for the Jays in the early 2010's (and who never met expectations), is now a pitcher and pitched MLB ball between 2022-2024.

He pitched an inning against the Jays a few years ago

Dominated them as I recall

I don't know much about this guy, but for a team that played Michael Stefanic, Buddy Kennedy, Leo Jimenez at times when we were short on infielders, he might be a better choice.

Joey Gallo is apparently trying to make the switch to pitcher.

Per the Athletic (Nov 21):

Joey Gallo last appeared in a big-league game some 418 days ago, but if the ex-slugger has any say over his future, it won’t be too long before he’s back in an MLB stadium, only this time as a pitcher. In March, Gallo announced that he would switch to pitching and seven months later posted a first-look video of his bid to return to the majors.

In a 15-second video shared on X, Gallo, 32, is shown throwing three pitches off a mound. Using his 6-foot-5 frame, Gallo is employing a typical overhand arm slot, with a rather pronounced extension, a typical hallmark of lengthy pitchers. While the catcher isn’t visible on the video, the sound of his pitches hitting the mitt could be heard.

Although it didn’t end like we would have liked I have so much to be grateful for! Especially grateful for the opportunity to be apart of this amazing team and organization. I learned from some of the best to ever play this game and for that I am so lucky. It was a life long dream come true to make it to the Major Leagues! To start this season I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out. I was on the last year of my minor league contract and honestly had my eyes on potential free agency and what I was going to do for next season. Then when I got the call up it really allowed me to slow down and take it all in. With so much uncertainty of where I’d be with going back and forth between AAA and the Majors, I made it a goal to be where my feet are and be grateful for the opportunity I had no matter where I was. That, along with putting my faith and trust in my Father in Heaven, and his plan for me, really allowed me to focus on what I could control and trust in that everything happens for a reason. As always, I couldn’t get through any of this without the support of my amazing wife and family! Excited to spend time with them and keep getting better for next season. Go Jays!

Edward Duran is an intriguing catching prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays system. Based on recent reports and his performance, here is a detailed scouting report:

Strengths & Defensive Profile

Duran's main value lies in his defensive tools and makeup, which project him as a potential Major League catcher.

Arm Strength (60 Grade): This is his best tool. Duran possesses a strong, plus arm that can deter baserunners. While his caught-stealing percentage has fluctuated, the raw arm talent is considered elite.

Receiving & Blocking (55 Grade): He is regarded as an above-average receiver and has made significant improvements in this area, particularly after transitioning to a one-knee-down setup. He has also cut down substantially on passed balls, showing good hands and athleticism.

Athleticism: Duran is an athletic catcher with better-than-expected speed out of the box, which helps his overall defensive movements behind the plate.

Plate Discipline: He shows a strong ability to draw walks (maintaining a good walk rate, e.g., BB%≈11−15%). This OBP-driven approach will be key to his offensive profile.

Hitting & Offensive Outlook

Duran's offensive game has shown flashes of improvement, particularly during the 2025 season in Single-A Dunedin, though he still profiles as an offense-light bat.

Hit Tool (45 Grade): Duran uses a straight stance and employs a leg kick. He is best suited to an on-base-percentage (OBP) driven profile, focusing on contact and taking walks rather than slugging. He had a strong 2025 season in Single-A with a slash line of .296/.378/.439 before a promotion to High-A.

Power (40 Grade): His power is below average, projecting for a low number of home runs at the MLB level. However, his average exit velocity has shown a positive trend, increasing from 2024 to 2025, which suggests a small bump in contact quality and gap power.

Splits: He found more success in Single-A (A) than in High-A (A+), which is typical as he adjusts to higher levels of pitching. His strong finish in High-A (with a wRC+ of 131 in a late-season stretch) suggests he is adjusting.

Overall Projection & Outlook

Edward Duran has emerged as the Blue Jays' best catching prospect through his strong defensive foundation and developing plate discipline.

His ultimate ceiling is likely a solid Major League backup catcher who can provide reliable defense, control the running game with his plus arm, and contribute an acceptable OBP against low power. If his offensive improvements in Single-A stick as he climbs the minor league ladder, he could potentially develop into a low-end everyday starter, but his primary value remains behind the plate.
