Ware is a future All Star. He's what Mitch Rob would have been without constant injuries and a better shot. Stud.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

One of the problems baseball players have injury wise is the entire game you're going zero to 60, on the bases, in the field. Now basketball players are going zero to 60 on close outs and in transition more then at any time in the history of the sport. That type of acceleration is a catalyst for lower body soft tissue strains.

I don't know what the NBA is gonna do, moving the line out further even makes it worse.

I thought Miami might struggle a bit without Butler (plus Herro has been out with an injury), but no....they continue to be a solid team. Ware was a great pick (where they got him) and the trade for Norman Powell was a good move.

Davion Mitchell has been good for them too.

A few players this season have been a surprise (because they've bounced around the league).

Today these three did well.

Trendon Watford: 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, a steal and a block.

Jordan Goodwin: 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

Collin Gillespie: 15 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal.

Ryan Rollins fits on this list too, even though he didn't play today (I know some of you already knew who he was previous to this season, but his improvement is a bit of a surprise to most people).

Um we messed up lol. I never was against drafting Queen but like 90% of the board was like helllllll no. He’s averaging 25/8/8 in 31 mpg over his last two. There was your center of the future right there.

I can't argue with that. However, as the implication no doubt is that "we should do better than Billy," the problem is that there is only one Spoelstra/Riley/Heat. No other organization routinely turns late-round draft picks and summer signings into a competitive NBA squad. So, it's not as if you can go out and find guys who do that, unless you hire from within the Heat. (Which might be a good idea.)

Someone made a thread about successful two-way contract players, and Miami had 5 of the 8 hits.

It's not all Spo, though he's obviously key. They really just have a top to bottom structure of identifying, conditioning, developing and coaching talent that no other team has. Stacey King was talking about how they still do some of the same things from when he was there.

If people remember, Adam Simon, who has been there for decades and oversees their GL program, was one of the top choices for the Bulls GM opening. But he pulled out of consideration.

Thanks for the info. That sounds about right -- it's a system. Whether Spo is the single most important key to the system, or Riley, or other parties, we don't know. But what we do know is that it's an organizational achievement.

Dumars is definitely looking a lot less incompetent I’ll say that much.

Well, he’s still on track to sending a top-6 pick to ATL.

I told people they were having recency bias with the Raptors. People were sleeping on them!

I always had them in the top 8 at least but people were saying bottom 4 team. No freaking way!

They are currently 2nd in the East. And it's not a fluke like we were.

Teams are shooting 32% from 3 against them and they've played a somewhat soft schedule outside of 3 games against Cleveland. Isn't that the same thing?

Barnes's improvement is probably real and Ingram was a good pickup for them, so I can see the Raps being .500 or so, which is a big step up from last year. But I'm having trouble seeing them be much better than that; I think they will revert toward the mean.

I just have been following them and saw their whole plan. They have been actively trying to move all their title guys. FVV, OG, Siakim. Once they finally got rid of them all, they just were actively tanking. They only tanked for 2 seasons.

As its been well documented, you have to totally disregard last season. The point shaving and tanking were a master class.

So this year with BI added to the team, a healthy IQ with the rest of the guys, its a solid team now.

Playing crazy good defense and Anthony Black was in a zone with 27 first half pts.
