Testing is over, season begins in 2 weeks.

I'm picking McLaren constructors champions and Leclerc WDC!

Pretty fun start to the season. McLaren looking great. Tsunoda replaces Lawson for Red Bull after 2 races  second seat curse... Lawson back to alphatauri or whatever

The first four races have been decent, but I doubt RB will fix their issues anytime soon. My favorite so far is Piastri because he seems to handle the pressure better than Norris. But the season is so long and a lot can happen.

If Norris just gets in a groove he can win easily, but he makes one error, and then goes wide on overtakes, and he just cant' get past top-teams with 2-3 small mishaps. Piastri is so solid, he's a force for sure.

Meanwhile the other teams are all in their own battles to match that speed and none have really proven anything. Max can win if the track is hard to pass and he gets a massive pole position like in Japan. Helluva drive. But also, if Red Bull like...figures out how to make their car operate easier (bc it seems like it's a bit slower to the pack and much twitchier than normal) Max could steal this title away from McLaren. I still picked Leclerc WDC but Ferrari have to win races immediately for this to be a reality lol

Things are going kind of crazy in the F1 world

McLaren are under pressure. Ferrari suck (which I'm a tortured Ferrari fan, but that's ok I'm used to it). Max is on a charge. Can he topple the faster MCL team in a stunning upset ??? I'm very eager for the US GP in Austin tomorrow and with 6 total races, two more sprints, all is on the table --- that's 168 pts. [I'm rooting for Verstappen lol]

DIdn't know this was a thread. I am also Verstappen fan, I found myself cheering for the favorite only in F1, in other sports I almost always cheer for the underdog. But I was huge Schumacher fan and now was Verstappen fan since very beginning, I thought he will be new goat. He is not favorite this season, but been huge one in some previous seasons.

I am very casual fan, I do not follow any news, just see races and thats all. Not sure what is happening with McLaren, but they won construction cup already, so they can allow non sense a bit at least this season. I hope Verstappen makes a ridiculous comeback, if not, I hope Piastri wins, just cause I have money on him or Verstappen winning, if Norris winds championship I am left with nothing

I'm a bit casual I dont know technical specs at all but I have a love for the talent of a race --- moto... f1, etc i love the massive risk it takes to win as a driver. So..... ya McLaren has had a championship winning car, but they've muddled up their dominance by trying to play it fair to both Oscar and Lando, even with a constructors champ they surely want a driver's champ too  but Max, man, he's a living legend even if I'm not a RB fan, he's the best driver I've ever seen and I root for him too 8-)

Norris looks primed to win, but 3 races left. One sprint in Qatar.

Verstappen put in another incredible performance PL to P3 in Interlagos, what can he not do ? My Ferrari's both DNFd, but I've given up any hope they overcome their own weight, now I just root for Max  To think that Leclerc started P3 and ended up in the pits, and Max went from the pits to P3. (Only twice ever happening PL to P2, I think they said it was Prost and Alesi -- of course back when races were way more random on any given weekend with DNFs and crashes)

If Norris places top-3 in these races etc, he's got it locked. Norris has to DNF (and maybe 2x or get 0 pts) for this to be back on, and Max has to win out everything. Piastri needs wins now and he needs to beat his teammate by a fair margin.

I think it'll make it go down to the final race of the season - and honestly I could see MV winning this.

It's been a bit of a rollercoast for me - I am a big Oscar fan, can't stand Lando, and not a fan of Zac Brown - so have that neanderthal sports logic of I dont want to see them do well lol.

But in terms of a season ending - I thought this thing was a foregone conclusion. But MV showing why he's one of the best to do it and clearly a cut above all the rest in the field (including the likely champ) once RB gave him a remotely competitive car - its been really thrilling - and that double DQ - you coudlnt write it better.

Not going to lie I do want MV to win it now - what a come back that would be.

Zac Brown annoys me too, just seems a bit pompous. Norris is not my favourite driver either, but I'm not really like, against him. I'm just unsure what's happened to Oscar's feel in the car, it really hasn't been the same since they left Europe. At the end of the LV GP, his post race interview was depressing, like, conceding-adjacent. I didn't like to hear that.

Hoping for the two guys in 2nd and 3rd to win it, Max best driver of the year regardless (if he wins, it would be one of the best comeback wins to a title ever I think, if Piastri gets it, he deserves massive props too.)

But I think odds-on Lando will, he's good at Lusail and Yas Marina. We both need another awful result from Lando in one of the two races for a real chance. If not for some sort of DNF (Canada, Netherlands) or the DSQ, he's only finished lower than 2nd a few times. Last year Lando was 2nd in the Qatar sprint, 10th in the race, and won Abu Dhabi. Piastri won the Qatar sprint, and was spun by Max on Lap1T1 in Adbu Chabi  finished 10th while Max was 6th.

Lando has worn on me a little over the few years - I jokingly think of him more as an influencer who happens to be very good at driving as a hobby. But a few of his comments, some dating back that he has explained away (basically "I was wrong"), but he had a couple of post race interviews in the last couple of years where he sort of referred to "yeah if I had that car, I'd be the same" again. And, when he had the best car even this year, for most of the year he wasn't even the best driver in his team.

With Oscar - I can't help but feel a part of it is that the team made a clear and obvious choice on team orders/tactics - and I'd not be shocked if we hear something later about some more garage shenanigans - but I think there is some sort of damning loop he's in that he knows he's not the annointed one in that team, and they were actively trying to position Lando to be in a position to team order his way to a 'ship. Then the pressure hit him of "well I have to do it myself" plus the actual pressure of going and winning the thing itself.

But totally agree, Max is just levels above those two - those first few races to drag that car to some kind of finish, including getting a win - until they finally gave him a car that he can get over the line first (still not the best car).

It'll be interesting on the next race - Max has "nothing to loose" - I dont see 2021 Max/Lewis where he would just lunge at gaps that dont exist - after he got his 1st 'ship that sort of went away (mostly) - but he can turn up the screws maybe enough to put Lando in a position where he makes a silly mistake - obviously Lando could just be smart and play safe points ... Plus lets face it, Oscar might just be able to help Norris out, Max does not have that luxury.

Top 3 heading into Final weekend. Any 3 can be champion with certain conditions, of course winning the race is my baseline here for standings:

Norris - 12 pts ahead of Max (Wins title no matter what with at least a 3rd place finish or better).

Verstappen - Wins title w/ a 1st place, and Lando must finish 4th or lower.

Piastri - 16 pts behind Norris, Wins title with a 1st place, and Lando must finish 6th or lower, must beat Max by 5 pts as well (2nd or lower for Max).

Norris needs an error-free weekend leading to a podium, and he's got it. That's about as easy as we can slice it.

Max vs everyone lol

Piastri needs to repeat his Qatar weekend and MCL needs good strategy, and Lando needs to have a poor race.
