Hopefully we can sign Jett for very cheap this summer (below the 7.3M he would have got if we had picked his option)

Next season, Bye Tyus + JI (whom is one of my favorite Player unfortunately)

Suggs, AB, Jase
Bane, Jett
Franz,TDS, Penda
P5, Moe, Penda
WCJ,Goga, Moe

I've asked this here before, but are they actually able to just stop playing Isaac without him being hurt? I could have sworn it being a thing that if you sit a healthy player to stop a contract from vesting they would be able to file a grievance, but maybe that was in baseball or something.

I guess they would have justification to do it based on his performance anyway. If they can do that without it being a problem I don't see why they shouldn't at this point.

Suggs/Jase
Bane/AB
Franz/TDS/2nd round pick
Paolo/Penda
WCJ/Goga/Mo (Let's say 7 Mil)

Would be like 216 million as opposed to 222.5 million with Isaac. Makes it possible to stay under the 2nd apron and bring back Mo. Otherwise it isn't possible without trading someone else. Need 2-3 mins/undrafted guys to round out the roster but you can do that and stay under the 2nd apron.

Not even to mention how easier future years get when it's 14.5 million off the books instead of just 6.5 million. Pretty much solves most of our cap problems. Even if they think he is going to bounce back a bit, the upside of shedding his salary seems much higher.

Someone else on here (Pepe maybe?) said the team is prohibited from doing that...anyone have an official ruling?

I'm not sure I want him, but at $2 or 3m I could be convinced...having said that, if he does enough to convince ORL he deserves to stay, others may also want him...this is NOT a big issue regardless
We have his bird rights

We no longer have his full bird rights. I think we are capped at signing him above 120% from what he is making this year.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

No but you can sit a guy if he sucks balls and JI is certainly doing that.

Clearly...but are we "capped" in how low we can go or is it just a straight bidding war with ORL having a ceiling? He's got a significant salary right now...$5.5m, I'd love to trade him for someone that could contribute to the rotation in some limited role - to a team that doesn't care to win or doesn't want to pay somebody next year...we could add a srp if the incoming player warranted it...or we could just explore unloading him to start making room for Paolo's bag incoming.

I think the team could draft a comparable player to Jett in the 2nd round next before next season and save money by doing so.

He has always had the shooting touch, its the totality. With nothing on the line in terms of consequences he stands to gain the most.

It makes me wonder if another team that could tolerant his defensive lapse could make it work. Oh well.

My thing with Jett is in the longshot that he even becomes a rotation guy it is probably as a microwave scorer type that doesn't do the little role player things well. We could use that kind of player, don't get me wrong, but we just saw a bunch of those guys (Simons, Sexton, Clarkson, Jerome, Tre Mann etc. ) get traded for or signed for very little. So if we really want that player we can probably just trade for one or use the MLE if we clear enough space.

Couple that with the fact that we have basically no money if Isaac's contract vests and we re-sign Mo and there is basically no chance we bring Jett back UNLESS he really really breaks out. Which I guess could happen, but would probably take an injury or two.

So for that reason I think trading him at the deadline makes sense. Maybe there is a bad team would prefer trying Jett out for half a season and trade us a useful vet for that.

Or 3, or 4, but notably 5.

they're not bringing jett back.. they did the right thing by him of declining his option so he can go elsewhere. Only reason he is getting minutes is our bench is void of scoring options and injuries. Like you said you hope someone see's enough in him and moves a vet or someone better equipped for the Magic
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

The team should be all business tonight, looking to not only exert defensive dominance but also run up the score as best as possible to overtake Detroit in point differential.

The Philadelphia guards punked us the last time. I remember Bane knocking down Maxey and standing over him in the second half.

FWIW….Since we play Detroit on our last cup game, I don’t think Detroits differential matters.

If we lose to Detroit, we would need to beat (Heat or Bucks), Cavs, Hawks differential.

If the Celts beat the Pistons, the Magic can lose by >35 to Detoit and still make the play-in playoffs .

Let's go Boston!
