Re: 2025 Miami Heat Regular Season Thread
Reminder to enjoy the season since most of us were not expecting to watch this level of team before the season started. Especially not offensively. Leave the getting mad over lack of trades/moves to the professionals. We've been wrong more often than not.
We're 7th in net rating with the 4th toughest schedule so far. Herro hasn't even played and Bam missed games!

Still can't believe people thought the Hornets would be better than us going into the season. I didn't expect us to look like this but I knew the Hornets would do what they yearly do.

None. NONE.
Trae Young is a bad defender, career 35% from 3 shooter, 5:2 assist to turnover ratio, and makes the max. Made conf finals in 2020-2021 and since then 2 first round exits and havent made playoffs last two years. Ill never understand the love this guy gets from fans. At their age, contracts, shooting, skill set and tangibles I prefer herro.
Ja Morant is a headcase and cant shoot 3s, worse than wade, and isn't available to play for one reason (injuries) or another (legal).
LaMelo has great size, great play maker and shoots the best of the bunch from 3 at 36% for career. But terrible attitude, gives up on plays, when they start losing he makes bad decisions. He's my least favorite from a fan and likability POV. And hes also literally never available either. Since 2020-2021 hes played 51-75-36-22-47 and already this year has played in 10 of 18. Dude has missed half his career games.
You don't make trades for players like this unless you lack identity and you're desperate. We are neither of those things.
Either get a true star like giannis or luka or you wait for the next norman powell type trade.

Thank you!!!!
I'm no Herro stan, but when people pile on him and then salivate over this steaming garbage it makes me question what they're smoking. Its not even controversial to say Herro had a better season last year than all 3 of those guys, but Heat fans would fight you for that statement. Just weird tribalism. Should be rooting for all our guys (until they're gone, then they can get bent).

And one point about all of them, they're all poor defenders. As poor or worse than Herro due to size and/or effort. Coupled with their injury histories and inefficiency in general compared to Herro, you better hope their playmaking and rim pressure is so much better than Herro that its not just a side grade into another head case player.
I look at all the complaints yall have about Herro, and then you bring up one of these guys....I think heat fans have a serious case of the grass is always greener on the otherside. They have the same issues, but even worse.

With Herro returning, we will all be monitoring and discussing best rotational practices as Spo tinkers and experiments with different variations. I'm seeing a lot of fan sentiment rallying around the idea that Davion Mitchell NEEDS to stay in the starting lineup and thus pushing for lineups with Mitchell-Herro-Powell together.
While I like the idea of the 3 of them zooming around in this offense, pushing pace and constantly threatening defense with a ton of onball skill, the size concerns leave me pretty uncomfortable. Rebounding and second chance points have already been a concern and running 3 guards will exacerbate that, even if Herro is a solid positional rebounder. But, even moreso it's defense. It seems many want to keep Mitchell with the starters bc he's an onball defender. But at what cost?
So far, Powell has been able to play pure SG this season and he has thrived. In recent stints dating back to 2020-2021 with Portland, Powell has increasingly been pushed to play heavy minutes in a pseudo SF role and IMO a lot of his questionable defensive reputation comes from being miscast in that role. The numbers speak for themselves--the more time Norm is tasked with playing in a SF/wing role, the more his defensive impact turns negative.

We have a realistic shot at getting anyone of those 3 names mentioned above. The one that could be revolutionary to our offense would be Trae Young. Defensive issues aside. With this current Heat team and our personnel, Trae would basically be a poor man Steph Curry in our system. Can you imagine a lineup of:
Trae Young
Powell
Larson
Bam
Ware
The connection with Trae having 2 amazing bigs in Ware and Bam.... The offensive opprotunities that would create coupled with Trae being deadly from anywhere from 3, he can collapse the defensive, kickout to shooters, kill you from the outside.
Bam and Ware can cover for his defensive woes.
As much as I love Tyler, Trae would be a player that I'd willing to part with him for. I would even go as far to say that Trae Young actually compliments this team better than Tyler does.
But that's who I want ICE TRAE.

I would LOVE to see Bam/Ware operating with a playmaker of that level, he’d be our Haliburton

I wouldn't even consider Trae or Ball tbh. Only one I could see the logic in taking a chance on would be Ja.
I agree with those who said none though. Even if you think they are all more talented than Tyler (other than Ja, they are not), they could never be considered better enough to warrant moving Tyler who is a much better fit by every other measure. Way more coachable, way more liked by his teammates, way less selfish, way less ego. No way in hell any of those guys take the beating that Tyler has taken in stride all these years being a loud part of the fanbase's favorite scapegoat.

Saudades.

At this point, I’m beside myself. A few more wins, and I might spontaneously combust.
Ware has been absolutely balling. I’m proud of his effort. Keep going young man! Bam is the best defender in the world. I’ve found in my time around basketball that defense is incredibly unappreciated. What Bam does, very few humans have ever been able to do.
Good start for Tyler. Didn’t feel like he forced a bunch of shots or played out of a bunch a pick n rolls. He attacked. Davion, he continues to pace the team and compete.
Larsson plays his ass off yall. You gotta respect anyone who performs their profession with that level of effort.

If you are telling me we could trade something like Roziers garbage expiring (or exception) Pelle Larson, Jovic and 2 firsts for Ball I’m doing it.
Really love this team not in a mood to disturb it, but I’ve been a long standing believer Ball would thrive here. That’s a kid in my opinion who is looking for direction and wants to be structured. Miami will do that for him. He is one of the most uniquely gifted playmakers in the game, just inexplicably undisciplined. He has never really been coached. He can be a plus a defender at his size and range, he just has to be forced to be one.

100%.
The guys that are rumored to be available have massive injury histories and work ethic issues.
Team fit is a huge deal. Heat are unlikely to make big changes given they are playing so well and are a cohesive unit. I can see those teams swapping amongst each other.

God forbid someone be intrigued by the thought of adding elite playmaking that can help our best player and our up and coming center get easier shots throughout the game than they may not be currently getting without the trolls banding together and talking ****
