Man, what's even the point of rooting for this team if it's just gonna be gloom and doom all the time for a team playing .600 ball

I gotta find a way to take a break from here
It's just a matchup issue. Look at it from a basketball perspective.

So we gotta exploit the weaknesses they have. They're not a perfect team either. Orlando just got beat by Boston, and Boston matches up WORSE against Orlando than the Knicks do.

They don't. Boston can handle physicality. We cannot. We are short and defensively poor on the ball and protecting the rim.

Against Orlando, the tallest players that Boston played were Neemias Queta (7 footer who only played 5 minutes) and Chris Boucher who is 6'9 and about to be 33 years old

Pritchard, Simons, and White are 6'1 to 6'4

The rest of their guys are 6'6 to 6'8, with Jaylen Brown being the only real standout player among them. I guess I just don't know their roster well, but none of the names they have stand out as physical defensive presences.

I know Sam Hauser, but who the heck are Josh Minott, Jordan Walsh, Baylor Scheierman, and Hugo Gonzalez?!

Agreed, toughness can compensate somewhat for size....versus a team like Orlando we just need to grow a pair.

Nobody on the Knicks is physical at all. It is a team of finesse players. You see how they have played us twice. And we are not rugged enough to take tge hits and force them into turnovers. Orlando isn't a World beater team. They just are a bad match up for us.

It was only one game so I don't know how much you can take from it but Orlando was also missing 5 rotation players and 3 from when we played them last in Carter, Goga and Suggs. I hope we can at least beat that version of the Magic :D

Mikal I'll give you. He's trying not to get hurt and keep his streak of games alive.

KAT gets physical occasionally but refs are quick to whistle him for fouls. He also has to stay on the floor for 34 minutes. The only big men playing more minutes that KAT are Jokic and Wemby. Mobley too if you consider him a big.

Most bigs that are physical in the traditional sense don't play that many minutes. Knicks need KAT to stay on the floor.

The rest of our team is definitely capable of being more physical.

Maybe we need to hope he gets injured and misses a game so he can come back and play aggressively? I mean this is insane if actually true but I see it suggested all the time

I'm not sure how true it is either and while I do think he could play more physically I also appreciate that he is always available especially on a team with some injury prone guys.

I appreciate how hard Shamet competes despite his limitations but watching him basically hurt himself trying to match the Magic's physicality made me realize that some guys just need to know their limitations sometimes. I'm not sure if guys like him and Mikal with their body types are where we should be looking for a lot more physicality from.

Physicality on the defensive end is supposed to come from OG, Mitch, Yabu, Huk, and now Diawara.

from the backcourt, it's gotta be Shamet, Duece, Josh, and Clarkson

For what it's worth, Mikal used to be the type of player to call a teammate soft
