Too much money, too many years. I suppose he's a straight replacement for Bassit's 22m salary accounting for inflation.

No such thing as too much money.
Rogers has unlimited and there’s no salary cap
We just got the 3rd best free agent on the market

This is a homerun and shows the effect of the deep playoff run. Slight overpay with the years but the risk is well worth it. His stuff is electric so his starts will be must watch tv the next few years which is nice to have.
Im pumped!! Go get Bo and everything else will be gravy

Wow Ceese out of nowhere. I still think Bo comes back but probably no chance at Tucker now.
Rogers doesn’t want to lose those ticket sales and ad revenue after seeing how much they made this season.
The team is probably getting some kickbacks from the city of Toronto too with all the people they bring into the downtown core.

Great in 2022 and 2024.
Not so much in 2023 and 2025.
Hopefully we get good+ years from 2026-2029.
Back end will probably not work - that is just the way it is. But our window is now, so we worry about the long term crap then, and go for it now.

Re: 2025 Blue Jays Offseason Thread
Its either Bo or Tucker for the next move.
Now that they spend $30m on Cease, I doubt they spend big money on a closer.
They might try a $5-$8m guy, or trade for a lower cost youn leverage reliever (which is not cheap - sort of like the Varland trade)

Rogers still has a budget whatever number that is, and are operating under it. It's not unlimited so how it is spent does matter (not that I am against this number), as they are exploring multiple options who might more into us than prior yeras. That being said I'd imagine its the healthiest sized budget that we have ever had by far.

Rotation is likely set unless Scherzer/Bassitt want to come back on a discount in more of a 5th starter/swingman role.
Sign one of Bo/Tucker/Bellinger/Bregman, shore up the Bullpen and we are likely done.

Spending big money on a closer is stupid. It's such a volatile position.

For sure it will, they not about spend 210 on him, then around 150 to 180 on Japanese pitcher. Plus 200b to 300 mill on Bo
Lots of Japanese pitching available this offseason.

He may end up with the Padres,Giants,or Dbacks.
We,ll see what happens.
I meant the top one imai... and to be honest I think rather spend a bit less and grabbed a younger imai even if he isn't good as cease this year

With big money on Cease, wonder if they sign Bo who will make less than Tucker and use the $ difference to bring back Bassitt as a #5/bullpen arm.

They signed an 18 yr old Korean pitcher... Moon a while ago.He sounds promising.Hopefully Shatkins is still as pissed off as a lot of fans still are.We have $$$.I think the Jays payroll is going to rise this offseason more than anyone expects.
