Nets finally give Danny Wolf a chance and he goes for 22 (with 5 threes!). I told yall this guy can play. He had no business in the G-league. The PG stuff Queen is doing now, Wolf was doing at Michigan and folks were calling it gimmicky lol. When he adjusts to NBA pace and limits TOs, he's going to be really good.

Wolf would have been good even at #6 for the Wizards.

He rebounds, hits threes, and plays well with another big. He and Goldin were highly effective. Danny Wolf would have been fine with Sarr.

Not a great offensive game for sure. Only 19 points allowed in the 1st quarter so maybe the Pelicans can play defense with Queen on the floor. Still -17 for the game. And the assists weren't going to be there given the poor shooting not only from the Pelicans but from both teams. Only 3 shots though- looks like he was deferring a lot to Zion. Typical for a rookie to have a bad game or two but still like what I've seen so far.

Some pro Queen propaganda to watch instead of last night's performance.

Not to be the "well actually" guy, but it's worth noting that Queen only played the first 4:20 of the 1st quarter and left the game with the Pelicans down 9-4. So they gave up 9 points in the 4:20 with Queen on the floor, and gave up 8 points in the remaining 7:40 of the quarter with Queen off. So the defense was on pace to yield 25 points a quarter with Queen on, and just 13 points a quarter with Queen off.

I would sure love to pry him from Brooklyn somehow. I think he's about 10-15 pounds of muscle away from being a real solid PF/C who would mesh well with Sarr.

I didn't see it. it's reasonable to say before his career is over Cooper Flagg will be a HOF player considered to be the best player ever. Flagg has been on a number of nationally televised games.

AI Overview

Flagg scores 29, Mavericks beat Pelicans in NBA Cup game ...

In a recent game, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 118-115, with Mavericks' No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg outdueling Pelicans' No. 13 pick Derik Queen. Flagg scored a career-high 29 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Mavericks' comeback win. Queen had a strong performance with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and a career-high 11 assists, but missed a potential tying three-pointer at the end of the game. Both players were former teammates at Montverde Academy.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/47056362/cooper-flagg-outduels-derik-queen-career-night-mavs-win

DALLAS -- Cooper Flagg had to stifle a frown when he swapped jerseys with his former high school teammate Derik Queen after the two rookie lottery picks' first meeting as NBA foes earlier this month. That's because Flagg was frustrated after missing a potential tying pull-up jumper in the final seconds of the Mavericks' loss to Queen's Pelicans that night.

But Flagg was all smiles when he exchanged a hug with Queen after the buzzer Friday night, as the No. 1 pick had just scored 12 of his career-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mavericks to a 118-115 comeback win at the American Airlines Center.

So far, they are 1-1 against each other, and both lottery players are performing to their potentials.

Lol you can't handle that your hero laid an egg so you bring up a game from last Friday.

Somehow he was -17 in only 16 minutes.

Oh come on...

Queen is obviously having a strong rookie season -- good for him!
Queen has obvious defensive flaws/faults -- not good, & he's going to have to work on that!

I don't know whether we should have taken Queen at #6. But, I also don't know that we should have taken Tre at #6.

Which is to say, I have no idea how either of these guys will turn out long-term -- or how well a bunch of other guys will either. & neither do you -- how could you?

Jeremiah Fields was -15. Saddiq Bey was -13. Jose Alvarado was -11. Looney was effective against his old team. Missi was also effective against the Warriors. Rookie Queen was ineffective vs. GSW.

Draymond Green went 0-9 FG and finished +3. Jimmy Butler was +22. Gary Payton II +13.

I will moderate like Matthew Broderick did. The truth and nothing but the truth. He's a success story. Heroes can be young and old. So can butt hurt haters.

Yeah about 99.7 for a game - OKC leads the league at allowing 106.7 ppg. The Pelicans defense got really good when Queen was off the floor but certainly good enough when he was on the floor.

I've noticed his on/off differential is starting to decline and the last couple of games were negative. This could be merely an aberration, or it could be the start of a new trend.

Since I posted this 3 days ago, Queen has played twice.

@GSW, he posted 2 pts 3 rebs, 0 asts on 1/3 FG and 0/0 FT. He was -17 in 16 mins. His team was +9 without him on the floor
@LAL, he posted 13 pts 7 rebs, 4 asts on 3/11 FG and 7/8 FT. He was -22 in 28 mins. His team was +10 without him on the floor

It is just as I predicted. The scouting report has come out on Queen. Offenses are attacking him and New Orleans is struggling because of it. This is not hating. It's a good sign that Queen became such a threat that teams started worrying about him. Now the question is, will Queen be able to adapt?

Draymond Green did see Queen for the second time. Other Pelicans were more effective.

At LAL, Doncic shot 12-14 FT, Reeves shot 11-22 FT, and Ayton shot 8-8 FT and 7-8 FG. Queen had 5 fouls and was -22. For the second consecutive game, Queen had a tough game.

Time will tell

Your point mostly stands. just pointing out he had 15 points on 4/12 shooting and 7/8 from the free throw line. 4 assists and 1 turnover is a big improvement He is a rookie though and I think he could improve on his defense like Jokic and Sengun who were also poor defenders. I also want to see him raise his 3 point percentage which right now is his biggest weakness IMO (this would open up his offensive game a lot more) but as he's a decent free throw shooter who gets to the line at a high rate is encouraging for a rookie for his chances to improve.
