So far this year. Scottie starting at 5 is ugly.

Not really his fault tbf.
FO needs to get a real back up 5, Manu is just a 4.

I think he was like 2/7 at the rim last night. The whole team was tired.

That's like saying driving a BMW M3 at the Sahara desert is ugly. It doesn't belong there. Same with Scottie at the 5.

Yeah. Scottie is not a center. His efficacy is highly dependent upon us being able to deploy him the right way, and when our lineup is all borked with injuries and rest days and what have you, it messes him up. This just has to be accepted.

They’re stalling because it means Ochai loses all his minutes and they most likely were hoping to flip him for a big rather than pick up scraps from other teams. He has looked like crap though. I think Mamu can also play the 3 on offense, so CMB, Mamu, Dick and Walter should still get their minutes in staggered lineups.
I hope we don’t lose Battle in a trade. He still has more to give and will be very valuable as a scorer imo. Dick and Walter are probably my safe for now.

When did they start giving out defensive players of the month? I don't ever remember this, but I like it.

Started last year.

This place is insufferable.

He's having a career year playing strictly at the 5, not sure why everyone keeps calling him a 4.

I'm not really seeing many useful bigs out there potentially available. You're looking at Day'Ron Sharpe, Nick Richards and that quality of big. Maybe you can get a Clint Capela or Goga if Wagner comes back but I really don't see a reason why those teams would want to trade for Ochai unless they get some injuries there. So, unless we really want to give up a ton of SRP's or FRP it's pretty tough to get someone useful that's also make little money. Then, there's the question of how much you want to actually invest in a 3rd string C.

How you play on offence doesn’t mean **** on defence lol.
He can’t guard 5’s, 5’s can’t guard him. It’s a give and take.
It’s fine if Poeltl is playing but when he’s out? It becomes real issue cause Mamu can’t play the 5 on defence.

You could make the same case that we are in trouble for any starter missing as we have seen with RJ as well.
104.1 DRTG with Mamu on the floor so the D has been really good with him at the 5 so far in the small sample size.
Scottie + Mamu pairing is a 99.1 DRTG in 207 mins. When he plays the 5, it allows us to do different stuff using his mobility. We do a lot more switching which allows Scottie to roam and make more plays on that end from the weak side.
Insert scrub big in Jak's place which is likely all we are going to be able to get and we are probably screwed regardless if that player is out there for meaningful minutes. You could make the case it's saving our guys some wear and tear which is fine but it's also going to cost them games too.

That would be highly appropriate, yes.
BI opens things up so other guys don't have to initiate against a set defense or take as many bail-out shots. Quick and BI are 3pt spacers. Barnes does his thing in transition and after the ball movement shifts the defense. They're all pretty heavily interdependent upon one another to unlock their highest level of play.

I don't think 10-15 mpg of a backup C is going to cost us too many games. Not when we can pretty clearly see how we fall apart in games without Jak. If he has any sort of rebounding, rim protection and lob threat, he'll be fine. Of course, that's a fairly largely if, in fairness. If he's just a 7-foot stiff, then it's still a matter of 10 mpg trying to spell some of the other guys and seeing if he's better than the mismatch. It's more about the option than the necessity. We have a surplus of guards who aren't doing us any favors, and a dearth of backup bigs.

Surplus of guards that don't have much value. Ochai is presumably the piece you would move, what would any team even give up for him? There's not many useful bigs making money in the 6m range. There's Day'Ron Sharpe, Nick Richards, maybe Capela and Goga at a bit more money, but they're on good teams trying to win and might not even be available unless you want to overpay. Really, we are going to need to wait till the trade deadline when bad teams finally give up on their seasons and selling guys off.

Exactly, yes.

That seems likely, yes. Also gives us a little time to see if any of our guys can make themselves more worthwhile, or at least more valuable.

Yup, obviously that changes if Jak gets a long term injury in which case we will need to do something. If it's just sitting out B2B's for now, it's not the most pressing need.

I'm telling you dummies, Scottie is the leading DPOY candidate because of Wemby's inactivity.
