In Ivey’s 6th man role on Wolves (only way I like Ivey in MN - not as full time PG starter) what might he become and how quickly. Can he someday make all of us say “DDV who.”

To personally add my own two cents, I believe Ivey would come in today as a 6th man role, but I do believe "what he may become" could still include being a starter alongside Ant. So yes, I think it's a worthwhile gamble.

Ivey’s defense is ok. He is a young developing player in schemes. Coming off bench and mostly against 2nd units would be totally fine. Within Wolves roster, totally fine.

Pretend we cannot acquire Nembhard via trade. DDV is our 5th starter. Do you still want to trade DDV for Ivey? Also what happens if our acquired PG is not available? DDV has shown he can play well with Ant in serious minutes, do you believe Ivey can do the same?

Finally remember that opponents stagger their substitutions. It is unlikely Ivey would only play against backups and if he is our 6th man he will get run in the playoffs (especially if either starting guard gets in foul trouble.) Are you comfortable with the defensive drop off from DDV (not to mention rebounding and boxing out,) that is required to make that trade?

Come on, no sub plays exclusively vs subs as starters don’t play exclusively vs starters. Don’t lower the IQ level of folks here by even having to bring that up. Not needed.

Back to Ivey. He would be acquired for what he may become not what he is today. His upside and potential. His new role and fit on Wolves roster. Comparing him to a more experienced and complete player in DDV isn’t ‘fair’ comparison.

Let’s run with this. Ivey is a RFA next year. What do you expect him to be paid? Also he cannot be the sixth man unless someone else starts for us. So Ant/Jaden/Naz/Rudy you wanted to move Randle for a PG. Now Ivey is in a contract year playing less, shooting less, frustrated that he couldn’t start for DDV, and we need to pay whoever we replace Randle with. Seems like a very small target. If I read you correctly your answer is without the Randle for Nembhard you don’t want Ivey?

Agree. But I think a real PG needs to be acquired too (sorry Conley and others). In my scenario it was Nembhard.

Even as 6th man, I see Ivey starting 20-30 games a season. Wolves can load manage Edwards more, rest the aging Gobert more (everyone slides up a slot with Ivey starting SG), play Edwards at point/SF more (which I really like, more so as he develops into full man muscles, and on D he isn’t chasing guards around), and of course Ivey starts for about every opportunity in rest and/or injury of regular starter.

I don't think there is a chance Pacers move Nembhard short of a mass overpay
In: Nembhard

So we trade both our PFs for Nembhard?

So our frontcourt rotation is:

C: Rudy/Joan
PF: McD/Miller

Just to add a guy who has become incredibly overrated on this site?

The trade offer would essentially be Randle OR Naz for Nembhard if I'm reading it correctly.

I'm not moving Randle for Nembhard. Julius has way more value. I would move Naz for Nembhard but only if we were also getting a guy like Toppin back to fill the gaping hole left by Reid.

Either/or makes much more sense.

Definitely not Randle.

I would probably do Naz for him.

I don't see us getting Toppin back. I'm not sure there is much value difference between Naz and Toppin. Especially if you factor in contracts.

I think DDV would become the defacto replacement for Naz.

Naz basically plays like a wing, so DDV would be s solid replacement for his scoring.

It would also allow Jaden to play more minutes at PF and that would open up some time for TSJ at SF.

Those are just main pieces, likely be picks included and other players depending on who we move. Cavs cap makes it tricky

Just popping in again to raise the possibility of banning all further discussion about Nembhard

Agree!!! Would we do this....

Dillingham + 2x 2rd picks for Ayo Dosunmu? I feel like if the Bulls are hovering around .500 by mid season still they trade one of White or Dosunmu.

IMO I rate Dosunmu more than Nembhard (overrated), he hasn't had the opportunity or exposure Nembhard has had with he Pacers. But just as good and potentially a cheaper option

My only question is why would the bulls take that return, more likely to want TJS

What about something like Rob Dillingham (and let's say Leonard Miller, or possibly Bones Hyland) for Keon Ellis and Devin Carter?

Do you want a proven starter or a prospect at PG? Personally, if it isn't a quality starter with a track record, why make a trade at all???

It wouldn’t be enough. Pretending it was

DDV/Ant/Randle/Giannis/Joan
Mike/Clark/Naz/Rocco

I don’t see us winning a chip with that bench. Not even sure the money works.

Ant and giannis on the same team could beat any team in a 7 game series

Strongly disagree. Plenty of teams with high end talent lose in the playoffs (Doncic and Lebron,) (Jokic and Gordon was playing out of his mind,) (KAT, Bridges, and Brunson,) ect… 2 players no matter how talented cannot win it by themselves.

I have a very different Buck I want on the Wolves. I have no idea how to design the trade yet, so please provide input. But Myles Turner is the ideal Center for this team. He would instantly improve the offense and can give quite a bit of the defense that Rudy brought. He also saves quite a bit of money. Rudy to the Bucks might work alongside Dilly and we take back some filler. What do people think of Ryan Rollins? Maybe something like Rudy and Dilly for Turner and Rollins?
