Same reason Houston traded Brooklyn back their picks despite knowing they would be tanking, they think they get something more out of it.

Doesn't seem like a likely scenario to me. They'd have to over pay two teams to get back their '26 and '27 picks using the assets they get back in a Giannis trade since they have no assets at the moment.

What's the alternative? Trade Giannis and gun for the play-in?

Overpaying still gets you some of your picks back.

I think their priority should be acquiring young talent like Castle, Harper, Jalen Johnson, Banchero, etc.

I wonder if we could get Bam on a Giannis to Heat trade? Something like:

Heat - Giannis + Kuzma
Bucks - Herro + RJ Barrett + Murray-Boyles + Zach Collins + 3 Heat 1sts + 2 Raptors 1sts + Bulls lottery protected 1st
Raptors - Bam + Fontecchio
Bulls - Poeltl

Type thing.

Heat get a Mitchell-Powell-Wiggins-Giannis-Ware lineup with Jacquez leading the bench. Stretchy 5, wing scorer, solid defensive team. Heat have the Kuzma deal to turn into one more piece at some point.

Raptors get a Quickley-Ingram-Barnes-Bam core that would be fun. Bam is really shooting it, so we'd be able to go 5 out. Agbaji, Grady and Walter are around and hopefully one emerges as a starting wing.

Bulls get a center to replace Vucevic.

Bucks get 6 firsts, CMB and Herro, which is around the 10-ish firsts in value stars seem to go for.
Where's the D?

You're assuming Giannis isn't getting to pick where he wants to go.

If they can pick any offer out there, obviously that gives them some more options potentially.

That's a massive overpay for Bam.

Is the current record of the Bucks his fault.
Because clearly he cant get it done as the go to guy.

He probably has 2 years remaining at his current level. You dont want to give up the future unless youre the knicks

Just send him to the Knicks or Heat and get this over it, don't wanna have to endure this pain and fantasize over something not happening.

IF it's the Knicks, is there a trade we could make as a third team where we get OG back?

Why would you want OG back. He will be making more than Ingram and no guarantee he will be healthy

I wouldn't mind him going to either of those teams since they are not LA/NY/Miami and they built their teams the "right way". I hate big media markets/Miami being rewarded just because they're big media markets/popular vacation destinations.

An achilles rupture is usually a non-contact injury. It ruptures then you go down.
