MIL is trading a top 5 player in the league. They aren't going to do it and accept a subpar offer so we can get KAT. That is awful value.

That's fair, but to think they will get a crazy offer for Giannis is crazy.

Giannis controls his destiny and whatever team he joins he knows whatever Milwaukee gets back is going to hurt his future team.

Milwaukee is not going to get a crazy offer for Giannis. I repeat Milwaukee is not going to get a crazy offer for Giannis.

Why wouldn't they just take KAT in this hypothetical?

Building around Kat and Turner sounds like a disaster. KAT is like 30.

You seem to be missing the point, which is that you have them accepting a low value package from us so we get KAT. KAT is more valuable than the package you are sending. Why would MIL prefer ours? What leverage do we have? That's the part you seen to be missing, you have us sucking value out of the deal and then defend it by saying MIL has no leverage.

If NY is moving KAT in a deal and the return is going to MIL for moving their MVP caliber player, other teams are going to make better offers than that.

The fact is Milwaukee has no leverage so don't expect great offers.

I was just using KAT as an example as that was one of the rumored destinations Giannis wanted to play for.

Also every time a superstar demands a trade everyone says they'll get reamed because they have no leverage.

But 9 times out of 10 they get a bounty of picks and swaps plus a decent prospect amongst the salary filler.

The only exception to this is De'Aaron Fox because Kangs. Plus Fox isn't fit to shine Giannis's boots.

If they don't get an absolute Kings ransom for Giannis the are so f***ed for the next decade.

They are going to be so bad, leaning into the rebuild so hard I doubt that 20 million per year really affects them a ton.
I think they would have felt it more if they continued to try and win with Giannis.

All in all I don't think it was that bad a move. They weren't getting positive value for Dame on that terrible contract and would have likely had to pay assets just to dump him if that was their goal which would be the case now if they were looking to trade Giannis and rebuild.

Knicks seem like his preferred spot, but unless they can flip KAT to a 3rd team for assets I just don't see why Milwaukee would want a 30yr old KAT with no picks for a rebuild.

1. Miami seems like a move Pat Riley could pull off. Location also helps.

2. Houston they have the assets and young players to make a serious bid.

3. Knicks again why would Milwaukee want KAT? For that reason they are 3rd.

I dont think their will be a lot of teams in the mix. 1-3 teams will be in the mix and Milwaukee will take the best offer.
