Reaves is going to get a max unless he just decides to give LA a discount, but considering how underpaid he's been I hope he doesn't. Get yours, Austin.
We can debate if he's worth it, but worse players get maxed regularly. And we've seen him excel even when Lebron and/or Luka have been out of the lineup so its not just playing off their gravity. He can go get it on his own.
Still absurd he wasn't in the Luka trade. But I expect him to be back with the Lakers and on a max or near-as deal. And I think its just fine. He's really good.

Its a mistake to max players putting up 29/6/7 on good efficiency with a strong impact correlation?
Good is an understatement, other than Steph, I don't think we saw 118 TS+ on volume from a guard.

Luka and Kyrie were an excellent offensive fit/duo. Reaves is a better regular season player than Kyrie, but we need to see him in the post-season to make further claims.
Maxing Reaves from his age 28-31 season is a no-brainer, which wasn't something I thought I would say in October.

If Giannis is truly gone soon, how much are the Bucks regretting the cap gymnastics they made for the Myles Turner signing. $22M a year tied up in dead salary until 2030 is brutal. Hopefully they can do something productive to their rebuild with Turner within the next year.

meh they weren't going to get any assets for a dame coming off a major injury. they can at least get some asset for Turner. dead cap on a rebuilding team isnt that crippling

Nash did this once or twice, but Stockton definitely did it quite a few times.
Obviously not bad company either.

None. Turner gets them another FRP in trade.

Many made the claims, but the guy Inhad in mind was Sixers fan.
I don't remember the lad's name but I know exactly who you're talking about. He kept comparing him to Simons and Sexton

5 years is the rough part. If you're building for the future, Lillard's salary through 2027 doesn't exactly hurt you too bad. The $22M/year in 2028, 2029, and 2030 is brutal. Hopefully the Turner trade return is eventually worth it but given how much teams are withholding their assets these days, I've got my doubts.

I think the deal looks even smarter if Giannis is leaving. They would get no assets for Dame this year with an achilles injury, and likely none next year coming off of one. Myles they will get a good asset for and they'd be rebuilding, so the dead cap isn't a huge deal.

None. Turner gets them another FRP in trade.
Does he though? Maybe. I think his contract isn’t bad for the bucks but I believe there is a trade kicker right? I agree he is a good enough player and in the right situation a FRP seems appropriate but, those “right situations” might be limited.

The TK may make the actual transaction more complicated, but it's not really a detriment to the receiving team as it's paid by the sending team.

But it still hits the cap sheet at the higher number as well for the purposes of tax etc right?

You're right, so a possible negative for a tax wary team.

There are far more demand for starting caliber stretch big vs supply. Turner will have no shortage of suitors
