Re: NFC East
Simms once had Hurts as the 37th best QB in the NFL or something so this is his moment to shine.

Simms is probably the biggest Jalen hurts hater of all time.lol
But hey, if it’s true I just have so many more questions.
Why did the eagles give Jalen hurts $255mill after their first Super Bowl appearance in 2023 instead of trading him if this report is true?
Why not move to Tanner McKee now if Jalen hurts is really kidnapping the offense?
When the eagles won the Super Bowl last year, why was it not “all Jalen hurts fault” back then?
Why is grant calcaterra blocking at a super high rate even though he’s one of the worst blocking TEs in the NFL? Is Jalen hurts forcing grant to do this against his will?
Why is AJ brown running a career low in crossing routes and slot usage? Hes had success here in previous eagle offenses but not this year. Why the change of heart for Jalen hurts? Why would he not want AJ brown to do that this year?
I have so many more questions.lol honestly I have no clue how people can watch this kindergarten offense and think the QB is the issue. Like yeah he’s not without fault, everyone has a little to blame, but he’s not the main issue. If he’s the main issue then **** bench him!!!!!!!!!! Tanner McKee, your turn!!! Prove to the world that Jalen hurts is the issue, easy fix!!

I mean… There’s even starting to be fans to call for Tanner McKee because supposedly there’s this rumor that some eagles coaches prefer McKee? Good, then do it. Bench Jalen hurts and start Tanner McKee. Offense fixed, right? Easy peasy.

Talking heads obsessing over a single player has been a long time tactic to get attention.
Cowherd and Skip mastered this, you'd lose 20 IQ points just by listening these types.

Yeah football is a team sport, hard to blame just one player. Pretty much all players have a share of blame to go around, including Jalen hurts, but fact is the offensive concepts are just flat out awful.
Defenses know what’s coming because plays are repetitive and not creative. Offensive players are used to their weaknesses, not their strengths, the middle of the field is rarely used despite having players that excel there.etc

I think Greg Cossell said that the Eagles are primary a running game offense but their running game has fallen far from last year.
When people criticize Hurts, or any other QB, it's usually that they're not making the throws that are open, usually in plays which are called against the perfect defense to run a given play.
In Hard Knocks, it looks like Hurts missed a slant to Smith in the Bears game which would have gone to the house and Hurts said his bad. Probably Brown's complaints are that at the top of the route, he's open but he's Hurts isn't firing the pass on time.
Still obviously Hurts has had huge games in the postseason, especially if he can go off schedule and find receivers getting open after several seconds.
The other thing the Eagles are good at, Brown and Smith will both go up and get the ball, so they're not open but they got great ball skills and Brown will also physically dominate CBs, especially when there's hand-fighting on a longer route as the ball arrives.
It's not the passing game of Burrow or some other QBs who are good at processing and hitting the targets on time. But obviously with that dominant line, he's had an opportunity to make big plays and he's made a lot of them.

What you failed to mention about that hard knocks play is hurts thought smith was going to sit, if he did that’s a dime. I remember thinking that was a really bad pass but it makes more sense now. It’s just miscommunication which happens to even the best QB/WR duos and Jalen hurts took full accountability for that play which is another thing. If Jalen hurts is really kidnapping this offense and forcing the team into these dumb concepts like simms and others suggest, would he still take full accountability for his mistakes? Doesn’t make sense..

I haven't sat down to watch the all-22 of that offense & taken a deep dive myself. But there's a lot of smoke around Hurts being part of the problem. The offense being tailored to him specifically. As a former QB, Simms is just voicing his opinion. So, there's likely some truth behind it.
I've always thought that Russ & Jalen had similar DNA. Each one having their own deficiencies. So, hearing some of the stuff that's coming out of Philly "supposedly", doesn't shock me in the least.

Cowherd & Skip never played. They're both shock jocks. It's a little different coming from a former player, who also played the position.

Well I guess it all depends on who you believe at this point. Other former players have said the offense has poor concepts that prevent easier plays from being made. Here’s Nick foles. Former QB.

Again, Jalen hurts has flaws too but it’s not difficult to see some major issues with these play calls and play designs. The eagles scheme is basically “this is what we are going to do, everybody knows it’s coming but you still can’t beat us because we are just better”. The offense doesn’t scheme players open, they expect players to just win to get separation.

They mostly stopped running RPO and read option so it's actually the opposite of the offense being tailored to him.
Something is going on behind the scenes; here is my speculation:
1. Patullo actually is bad at his job and his friend Sirianni is protecting him
2. Hurts' ego grew from the SB win so he wanted more control over the offense (which made it worse) and/or he got lazy
3. Front office and/or ownership want a more pass-oriented, less option-based offense that fits MVP caliber Tanner McKee
