By the way -- didn't the Clippers originally get Zubac by trading future former Celtic Mike Muscala?

Is Day’Ron Sharpe a legitimate and realistic trade target?

Zu would be a dream, but the more of the season that goes on, I think we ultimately hold onto Simons.

First off, it seems like it's going to be hard to put Pritchard back on the bench when he's just such a fantastic and stable offensive force. Easily been our 2nd most consistent player on offense this year, and Simons has done well in the role PP played since getting here as the deep shooting 2ndary ball handler.

Second, I think this year has gone better than expected for the Celtic's front office with Queta being a legit rotation big now, Walsh developing, and Minott coming out of nowhere. Hugo also looks to be a real player on that 2nd contract, and possibly a serious rotation guy as early as next year if things break right. Baylor is Baylor. Hauser was already expendable, now he's barely needed. It makes much more sense to trade him at this point than anyone else.

Thirdly, looking at FA and teams looking to shake things up, and we might be able to get Simons to sign for a very low number. Cam Thomas got laughed out the room for asking for the contract Simons is on now. Sexton, White, Huerter, CJ, and others are ll hitting the market as FA's, and are all similar guys. Monk, who is arguably the best of this bunch given athletic ability, just signed for 18 mil. With a tight market, taste of winning and a good organization, Simons might just sign for MLE level money...

All we really need now is a developmental ball handler, and to upgrade our center spot with another rotation big that is better than the guys on the bench now. Hauser and our pick could realistically get us both in a strong draft, and teams looks for value contracts.

I'd be looking at guys like Bobby Portis if the Bucks are serious about blowing it up, giving us more size, rebounding, and outside shooting off the bench.

Steward from DET if they do make that big trade, and need to replace guys like Duncan and Tobias in their lineup.

Grant Williams would be a nice reunion on the cheap.

TJD and Post from GSW

Any of the Magic big men would be welcome to the bench.

Celtics already have ther starting 5, Stars, and 6th man next year on reguardles of what happens with Simons, so we really just need to make moves on the margins and improve where we can. I'm expecting no homeruns or big moves the next couple years.

Who’s a defensive guard we could get for Hauser and picks basis? Add x, Boucher, if you need salary. Maybe Baylor if needed. I like Anthony Black for that, but doubt ORL goes for it. Any other ideas?

Who needs a defensive guard when Walsh and Minott can pretty effectively guard the POA. ?
There is Marcus Smart……

Is Paul technically still under Clipper's rights?

Yes. LAC cannot cut Paul outright because they don't have enough free cap left to fill his 14th spot. They could cut a deal with him where he doesn't take all of the guranteed money so they could sign the required 14th player, but why would he do that now? Or they can trade him on the 15th.

In that case, the Zubac/Lopez/Paul for Simons/Garza deal I proposed (after Dec. 15) is possible, unless they are still a player short from 14 and don't have the cap space to sign a 2 Way guy.

I don't know what is going on with Clippers FO, but seems like they might want to save face after this debacle. But then again, it's the Clippers so who knows?

I'm with you on this trade if it can be done. Lopez is a team option, Paul is expiring and the Celts will need a PG. If Lopez is cooked, his contract isn't picked up. If he has gas in the tank he can be a version of Horford.

My boat is rowing in a different direction related to Hauser. Of the 3 shooters (PP, Simons, Hauser), Hauser is the best defender. Depending on how much ball-handling is in Hugo's future, Tatum's return, and Brown's wants after the reigns removed this season, the ball-handling hierarchy may shift further away from the smaller guards on the team.

Since Danny Ainge left the C's, we have much less use for small, faster & offensive point guards. Ainge drafted Rajon Rondo, Carsen Edwards, Payton Pritchard, Tremont Waters and traded for Kemba Walker... but the C's don't seem to value players like that anymore

If Brad can flip Simmons for a legit big, he definitely deserves a statue outside TD. Guy is an absolute terrorist.

Just trade for a fighter, not a cream puff like Simons

Some were calling this guy the 2nd best player on here  If he's hitting his shots, he's fine in spurts like max 20 mins a game but a guy like that s/b making what hauser does, not almost $30m per season. These one dimensional guards are a dime a dozen. Nobody wants them. Look at Cam Thomas.

Dunno about Smart, seems like ship has sailed... but trading Jrue for Simons leaves us pretty short on ballhandlers, maybe Hugo, Walsh and Scheierman can do the job ... but, should we be lucky enough to make the finals, Cason Wallace, Lu Dort & Alex Caruso are gonna be a nightmare with our lack of ball handling

Simons was never a 2nd best player. You nailed it. You play Simons and if he hits shots you play him 20-25 minutes. If he is not hitting shots, he is a 10-15 minute player.

Today the Celtics survived Anfernee Simons and the Toronto Raptors

That's why I want one of the Bulls guards.

If not Coby White then Tre Jones.

The Cs need a big and also another ball handler.

Yeah, that was the goal. Ball handling/ secondary creation. Probably off the bench to augment Pritchard once Tatum is back. Just a 3rd guard in the rotation assuming we move on from Simons by next year.

Return to Boston Celtics
