You know, I've heard the "lazy" stuff before. Sometimes kids just don't kick it into high gear until they're being paid real money. It's just the way it is with some people. And watching him play, that vacant expression is his mind being in a place where he can visualize what he wants to have happen. It's not laziness. People try to get up in his face and throw him off and he's just in his own little world where he can't be touched. That's not lazy. That's a talent he has. People have to stop projecting their own excuses for not making it into the show on other people.

I'm on the Queen bus. Had no idea who he was a few weeks ago. FWIW, he looks amazing now.

I'm eating collard greens and black-eyed peas all up in this thread. To be served with a DQ Blizzard for desert from the ice box. I had hundreds of them frozen and saved by the draft.

One DQ Blizzard for each, "I told you so".

AFM had a trademark slogan and T-shirts.

OKC is the best team in the league because they excel at defense and shooting, and we are supposed to draft a guy at 6 that does neither?

The team with a 7 foot center that can shoot well from everywhere. Queen isn't 7 feet and he cant shoot.

Yeah he got into shape. Still seemed like finals caliber player in the 2020 bubble though even without Gordon (they got to the conference finals). They did have Jerami Grant and Millsap.

The process for getting Queen was terrible. They should have been able to pair Queen with an elite player in this draft. With that being said, Queen might end up being the best player in either draft. So it's irrelevant.

Queen could lead the league in assists. Even without a great jumper he's a menace. If the 3-point shot develops and you have to guard him out to the 3-point line, teams will find it very hard to stop him. Imo, the Sengun comparisons are not good because he's so slow.

Watching Queen play it's hard not to feel robbed as a Maryland fan. Queen should have been our pg last year. At the very least he should have ran pg for substantial parts of the season. If that happened he would have been drafted, at the very least, top 3 overall. I would have considered drafting him first. Queen generates too many easy looks by lifitng the opposing teams center away from the basket and then just making pass after pass for easy scores. Queen is a good enough passer to lead the league in assists. Look at Trey Murphy's numbers.

Imo, this is a Derik Queen effect and you're going to see it through out his career. Queen will make his teammates better. Even the Jokic comparisons don't really work because Queen has a level of quickness and suddeness that Jokic simply doesn't have.

Imo, Queen is basically a hybrid of Magic and Jokic. Not as strong as Jokic and not as fast/quick as Magic but somewhere in between. Time will tell if he has the competitive desire to be great but it's silly to talk about the pick that was given up. I like players in 2026 as of today I'm taking Queen over all of them. And there isn't a player in 2025 I'd take over Queen. The last player I'd take over Queen is Wemby and there's not a player in NBA history that I'd take over Wemby. if New Orleans can get some talent and Queen, it's going to be special.
