Not that Portland would even be taking offers on him, but I'd throw everyone not named Ant at them for Deni. Given the age of most of our assets, a third team may need to be involved.

Trade noise is very loud out there at the moment.

Hoopshype says we want Coby White. Dilly and Conley somewhere Coby White here, third team gets Dilly and Mike and pays Chicago. Otherwise DDV has to go out, and I would rather avoid that.

The big key to how big of an upgrade we make is who we are willing to give up.

I had some fun with a three-team trade.

Dallas out: Athony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, Dante Exum
Dallas in: Nikola Vucevic, Patrick Williams, Coby White, Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Mike Conley

Chicago out: Nikola Vucevic, Patrick Williams, Coby White (likely picks as well)
Chicago in: Anthony Davis, Rob Dillingham

Minnesota out: Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Mike Conley, Rob Dillingham
Minnesota in: Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, Dante Exum

too much injury risk for me. Exum might be done in the NBA, and Kyrie is small and poor defender and relies on sharp change of direction offense, so I'm worried how that ACL might impact him. Gafford I like.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been big-game hunting for a point guard.

There were rumors that they inquired about Memphis’ Ja Morant, have kicked the tires on Kyrie Irving, and now have their sights set on a more realistic target. That’s where the Bulls come in.

According to a source, Coby White has been inquired about, and time is of the essence in the Bulls making a decision. The source said that Minnesota is not looking to wait until February and the trade deadline to get a deal done, looking to fix the primary ball-handling situation that’s been an issue all season long for them.

I read the article and it is poorly informed. They think the Wolves have a future first to offer, which we don’t. They also think White is worth DDV, TSJ and a first. While I like White a lot, he is a UFA next year. That means any team that trades for him is risking he walks for nothing. I don’t see any team making an offer close to the value that article is calling for.

To be fair, nowhere does the article mention a 1st round pick.

That said, I'd prefer not trading for White. IMO, he'd be a distant 3rd target among Bulls PGs.

We need to get under the lux after this summer, for repeater and frozen pick reasons, right?

Being honest, I don't think that should be a major deterrant to trading for him, if he's available for the platter that Minnesota can offer. I do think, however, that trading Donte DiVincenzo as part of a package for Coby White would be a mistake.

Mike Conley + one of Rob Dillingham or Terrence Shannon Jr. + SRP's

I can’t remember if I mentioned this, but there are three problems trading for Coby White.

1. Conley would likely be most of the matching salary, and we made promises.
2. Coby’s contract is too small for him to accept an extension - we have no security he isn’t a rental.
3. Even if he does well, and wants to stay, we don’t know if we can afford to match offers from other teams.

We can only be sure that we are getting a rental this season. We risk using assets that could be a part of our future.

DDV is clearly more valuable than White. I would question if Coby is even worth TSJ or a 1st.

I understand why you keep banging the drum on this, but at the end of the day, a team has to make a trade in the team's best interest. Conley is a pro's pro, he will understand it's the nature of the business.

Really hate this part of the season where we don’t talk much about basketball but mostly on trade that will never happen :)

Rumor is Bulls want Sabonis (for some reason?)Maybe it will be a three teamer. Bulls get Sabonis and filler, Sac gets Naz, Conley and filler, Wolves get White, Vucevic, filler and picks.

Why would we want to take Vucecic?

I get the White rumors and some of it makes sense. Would be nice to get a shot creator who is still fairly young. I see him as a combo guard more than a real PG, but he's for sure more of a point than running Donte out there.

Donte should have more value, I think hes a better player and has a better contract with the extra year.

I also don't think we should be moving a higher IQ player like Donte for another questionable BBIQ guy in White. If it's something around Shannon with Mike where we toss in a couple 2nds(we have 2 this year I believe) then count me in. Trading Mike doesn't seem likely though unfortunately.

Here is an idea…

Naz Reid and Leonard Miller (filler) for Coby White and Jalen Smith.

I think the Mike Conley promise might be ending. He is struggling with Achilles tendinopathy and that can be a precursor for rupture if not properly treated. Google says he could be out weeks to months and who knows what condition he will be in come April.

I will continue to bang the drum for the idea of adding Jalen Smith. I think he is exactly what we need from a 3rd/4th big this year and beyond.
