Liverpool manager Arne Slot will hold a conversation with Mohamed Salah before deciding his involvement against Brighton but stated he has \"no reasons\" for wanting the forward to leave in January.
Salah was omitted from Liverpool\'s midweek victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. The exclusion followed his explosive interview after the Reds\' 3-3 draw with Leeds United, where the 33-year-old claimed he had been \"thrown under the bus\" by the club.
\"I will have a conversation with Mo this morning,\" Slot said in his prematch news conference Friday. \"The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow.\"
Slot emphasized that future discussions about Salah should involve the player directly. The manager confirmed extensive dialogue occurred over the past week between Salah, his representatives, and club officials.
Salah suggested last weekend that the Brighton clash could be his last for Liverpool. The Egypt international is set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15.
Saudi Arabia has maintained long-term interest in the forward. Salah could leave the club in January if no resolution is reached with Slot and Liverpool\'s hierarchy.
\"I think we decided as a club - and I was part of that decision - not to take him to the Inter Milan,\" Slot said. The manager confirmed he maintains final authority over squad selection decisions, though he regularly consults with sporting director Richard Hughes.
When asked whether he would like Salah to stay beyond next month, Slot responded directly.
\"I have no reasons not wanting him to stay, if that is a little bit of an answer,\" Slot said.
Liverpool remain unbeaten in their last four games across all competitions. However, the Reds have won just two of their last 10 Premier League matches.
Salah was dropped to the bench for a third consecutive game against Leeds. The forward\'s relationship with Slot has reportedly broken down amid the ongoing dispute.
