Leo seen this with Vince Carter. We’ve been spoiled with consistent performers from Bosh to Demar to Kyle to Siakam. You really can’t build around someone that doesn’t try and impose his will on the game. He’s an important building block but not a guy to truly build around.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Lol Vince was the greatest superstar this franchise has or will likely ever see in my lifetime. Thankful to have had seasons tickets then to witness a true top ten superstar... dominant, while carrying a team roster of scrubs most nights .... this is a soft organization... with its marshmallow soft talent.
Lets Put some respect on an 8 time allstar and HOFer --- Carter wasn’t just an All-Star — he was the face of the NBA at the turn of the millennium .... No one has come close since...
NO wonder Raps fans get so disrespected around the league. Mostly clueless when it comes to the sport. One Raptor fan earlier in the season had posted Scottie >> Pippen... lol... you can't make this stuff up...

This 13 game stretch without RJ once again shows some of the limitations of Scottie as a scorer. He simply cannot scale up his volume when the team needs more scoring from him. We're dead last in offense without RJ and Scottie's PPG through this stretch is still at 18.8 PPG. Just my opinion but if you're star in this league and you're missing one of your top scorers, your production should be going way up not down. You're supposed to be stepping up and doing more instead of relying on role players to step up.

I think there were a post about ranking Scottie into Raptors all time great before the season started.
Guys like DDR, Lowry, VC, Bosh had carried the team to win some playoff series. Scottie had nothing yet.

I remember last year Matt Bonner heaped praise on Scottie, but said he needed to get in the gym and work on a go to move. Scottie then went off in the next game and mentioned he heard about the comment. But here we are a year later and Scottie doesn't have an office or a go to move. He works on his game, but it hasn't progressed enough. Bonner was right then, and it's hard for the team right now with all the injuries.

Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 9
I think it’s between the ears with Scottie and I’m not sure if it’s something that’s fixable. I’ve been pretty supportive with Barnes but this is a reoccurring theme with games like tonight where he looks very uninterested and discourage on offense.
Is it because the ball is in Ingram’s hands a lot and Scottie is being told to stand in the corner on some possessions? Does he expect to be the hub on the offense like Jokic? I know he’s a good defender but last night against the Nets, I saw glimpses of him faking effort on D. Something concerning…

His go to move is probably his turn around fade, unfortunately his PPP on Post Ups is atrocious. As I've been saying before this is now year 3 of being around a 19/8/5 guy with varying efficiency. This is just who he is barring an unforeseen jump which looks less likely by the day. We've seen other guys in his draft class start off way behind him that have caught him now at least offensively while he's more or less the same offensive player he was since he came into the league with only really small improvements.

He’s a front runner.
Look at how he is when we’re winning vs when we’re losing.

I think it has more to do with how he is playing himself rather than how the team is doing. When he is playing poorly, he sulks out there complaining about calls, not running back and doesn't play with much energy. Meanwhile, if he's having a good game individually but the team is down 20, he's still out there clapping and rallying the troops.

I definitely noticed this in past seasons. Not so much this year though.
It's one of the reasons i stood by Vlad when everyone was hating on him. Vlad's mood always swings with team success. Not his individual stats. There were times when he went 2 for 20 but was still celebrating his teammate's home runs with a smile on his face.

Maybe he is frustrated by always having to cover for other guys.
Guards can't stop POA, make Barnes run around chasing guards.
No real C, shove Barnes at C and make him bang against 7 footers.
Play IQ, RJ, BI, Gradey, who are all bad defensively, don't worry, Barnes will run over to help.
He is being asked to do way too much on defense when Yak is out. Burning that energy in defense hurts offensively. If you watch the games with Yak out he spends more times in the corners on offense to catch his breath.
Vs Boston he went from chasing Pritchard around to battling Quenta. It just burns energy being at the disadvantage constantly.
And on offensive, he just isn't a natural scorer no matter how much he practices. BI is. RJ is. Barnes 1st instinct is to pass. His numbers have gone down this month because he can't handle more offence AND defense. Without both Yak and RJ, it's too much strain to pick up. Guys who bring no defense like IQ and Gradey "should" be the ones picking up offense while Barnes and CMB pick up the defense. But IQ slumped, Gradey is Gradey. Etc...
We just have a flawed lineup that when 1 guy gets hurt, we lack replacement level guys. When 2 are hurt, you get the crap we are watching now.

bosh has never won a playoff series as a raptor. lost in 6 to nets and 5 to orlando.
demar didn't win a playoff series until his 7th season in the league.
lowry didn't win a playoff series here until his 9th season in the league.
vince is the only guy that did it and it was only 1 series in his 5th season.

Scottie has nothing. He couldn’t show spirit against a tanking team. The might mouse had beat MJ twice.

Excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse.
We just have a flawed lineup, yet, he is not part of the flaw on this flawed lineup. Having two near-max contract and a starting PG salary that we can have replacement level guys, where most teams won't be affordable with. Just great, it is always others.

i just wanted to point out some stuff you said was incorrect but it doesn't matter as any info really doesn't impact your take on him. probably best just to stick with your emotions and not say false things to support it.

3rd season. We beat the Knicks in the first round in 00-01, before losing to Philly in the ECS.

Patrick McCaw has his ring on his 1st, 2nd and 3rd season.
I don't think you can compare players with result without context. The skill level is just way off, and those have the offensive skills to carry teams.

And Lowry did win a playoff series in his 3rd season (off the bench).

Oh yeah, that's right. Right after the trade, those Rockets beat the Lakers, didn't they?
