literally not true in the slightest, he is in teams scouting reports lol

I can tell you right now, teams aren’t worried about Gradey Dick. If you lose to Dick you just shrug your shoulders and move on.

He had multiple open 3’s last night. If teams were worried about him, he wouldn’t have had those looks.

you can say those things, but they're not true. He is in fact in teams scouting reports, there's plenty of plays where I can show you where the defender has his back to the ball, or doesn't rotate over to be the low man because his duty is to cover GD at the 3pt line. If GD is open it's because he hustled to get open, or the defense broke down, or our played worked for him to be open.

Explain these then. Dicks 3PA from the lats few games

Almost every 3 he has put up recently has been teams leaving him and not being overly concerned about Dick. What has Dick done on any of these plays to get open other than teams leaving him?

I mean ****, you can watch every Dick 3 pointer here:

He doesnt have to work to hard for his looks. Teams are not glued to him.

Crazy how "in theory", he could bring a whole bunch which we are missing:

Paint deterrent
Lob threat
Screen setter
Size inside
3pt shooting

His legendary game was a road game against Portland, when our regular Cs were out. It was an amazing game during the Raps' pre-Kawhi prime period. We held them to like one FG in the second quarter. And Bebe was a revelation. Maybe playing in Bill Walton's former haunt inspired him.

Wild to remember such a specific Bebe detail but I’m all here for it

I think it’s more that we completely shut down the Blazers (who were still a good team and one of the better offences in the league back then with Lillard and CJ leading the way) that brings that memory back. IIRC we held Portland to a few points they got at the line then they made their first FG off a turnover or offensive rebound in the dying seconds of the quarter.

I’m not expecting much from Bamba in general, but I think he’s going to get the opportunity for at least 10-15 MPG most nights — and probably even more than that in a game like tonight where Poeltl and CMB are out and it’s the second half of a B2B lol.

I wish they had made the new Gravity stats full of filters etc like they others do.

He's about half way down the 3rd page. He's our 3rd highest off-ball gravity guy but not ranked super high league wide.

the 1st player where he was open was because we got him open, the defender had to split the difference between the two, he choose wrong.

the 2nd play you see the defender within arm's length of GD at the 3pt line, last second he bails to protect as the help defender and then rushes back out to GD.
If GD wasn't the threat you think he was, that defender would've been camped sagging off the 3pt line making that drive & kick stagnate,

Dick is getting a lot of opportunity when he shouldn't be. We should give him run in the GLeague and see if it brings back his confidence. He's been complete trash so far this season. He does some good off ball stuff but it's not enough.

He's at sub 40% from the field after last night's game. His career is going to be over very soon. I can't even see him being decent in Europe, maybe China? The lack of strength, athleticism, speed and skill. He has nothing going for him as a prospect.

You know you have hit rock bottom when it's being discussed whether you provide gravity as a shooter that can't shoot. From my own eye test, I would say last season he was a lot more effective attacking closeouts while this year he's relying a lot more on cuts to the basket to get his occasional buckets. It would make sense that teams aren't closing out as hard on him anymore while he's been chucking up bricks and taking away this part of his game which he's pretty good at.

Going to keep my expectations low but Bamba should still be good for a couple of blocks and 3's.

Koloko was a +23 in his first game in 28 minutes and +3 in his second game in 25 mins (Memphis lost this game). He used to do this for the Raptors too by simply being a big presence on the court.

Basically that’s all I’m looking for from Bamba - help us not automatically lose these minutes when we don’t have a big to play with the bench or starters.

He is not a smart player....Has all the tools body wise but to stick in the NBA you need more than just that.....He makes a play that wows you and then 2 or 3 that make you scratch your head....Hope he gets some run tonight but i doubt he will be the "Savior" everyone is hoping him to be.

The difference between Koloko and Mamba are twofold — motor and understanding of space. Koloko knew where to be and got there quickly with his arms out, which allowed his length to bother people. Bamba has a low motor and is often late to where he should be which destroys whatever you’re trying to do on either end. He is the definition of laissez faire.

Terrible signing. It really seems that this front office does not value center depth. Only a matter of time until Scottie/CMB get a major injury playing out of position.

Return to Toronto Raptors
