I’m thinking that first sentence is a green font.

Second night of a back to back and our bench got us the win. Heck yeah.
I believe in Masai.

He came in with 5 minutes in the first. And he scored all 12 points Raptors points had until Jakobe scored with 9 left minutes in the 2nd. He is not great defensively but he was not the cause of all the defensive breakdowns. Throw in a steal and offensive rebound because he was active as usual, and he had a great game.

No, I said watch the game because it fell apart as soon as he came in. The box score just corroborates what happened. Some people see scoring and think it means everything but there’s more to the game. Maybe there’s a reason only he was scoring? Maybe Orlando didn’t see him as a threat and focused elsewhere? Maybe he wasn’t getting through screens or boxing out effectively?

Again, watch the game.

To be fair, it fell apart at the opening tip.

We came out slow for sure. Down double digits early. Brought the bench in and closed the gap a bit. Then Dick came in and the deficit grew.

The challenge with Dick is it’s hard to hide him because he is giving up strength or speed in most matchups. He hustles and he’s smart and he gets up and down the court faster than folks give him credit for (I’d argue he’s one of the faster guys on the team), but his lack of strength and poor reaction time guarding isos has a chain reaction on our defence where everyone is out of position and even if we get stops we start giving up a copious amount of offensive rebounds. Granted this happens more when he’s sharing the floor with Walter.

That said, there was a noticeable difference in our defensive cohesiveness in the second half and that was in large part because guys like IQ, Dick, Bamba didn’t play.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

People are making way too much of the IQ thing. Or misinterpreting it.

IQ has been cold in tons of games and then came through in the 4th quarter. He didnt sit because he was cold. He sat for the same reason that every offensive player sat in the 4th quarter (except for BI). The magic were held to 12 points in the 4th. Which is insane.

The magic simply couldnt score....and Darko decided to stick with the defensive lineup for the last 8 minutes. IQ and Mamu would've been subbed in at the very first hint that the magic could start scoring again. It never happened.

Shead statement and your statement are both true.

Gradey has struggled no doubt but Jakobe's shooting has been as good as can be expected IMO.

Yeah weird to lump them all together. Jakobe is literally shooting 39.6% from 3 on the season…

I did Google and saw pics of her with her brother, and her at his 905 game.

It’s hilarious that Jakobe just simply being able to hit open 3’s can land him generational wealth during the tenure of his career but at the same time, would wash out of the league pretty soon if he can’t.

I hope for his sake that he can hit the 3 on a consistent basis. He has the makings of being a legit 3&D guard in our rotation for a long time. He just needs to be reliable at making open 3’s.

Like I said I watched the whole game. While all you have is "maybe this" and "maybe that". Trying to downplay a players achievements is the true sign of a hater!

Wow my bad I didn't realize Jakobe's % is that high. Dick's 3% is declining steadily, however he can certainly drive by his defender.

Dick is weird, he makes the contested 3s but misses wide open ones.

Dick is shooting 30% on the season. He isn’t making any of them really.

Lowry was always playing smart tho and being a dog on defence. He just played the game the right way (almost to a fault when he would defer instead of just being selfish).

Barnes is sometimes just deferring when he should be aggressive and being aggressive when he should defer.

But it’s hard to really harp on anyone for not being Lowry. Dude was one of the smartest players I’ve ever seen

We are seeing a bit more of those Lowry winning type plays from him this season, it's a slow process with him though.

Lowry was probably up there with LeBron in Basketball IQ. I've never seen anyone execute a 2 for 1 better than him.

Don't forget a 6'9 guy with insane athleticism will appear to have a much better bbiq than someone 6'0 with good athleticism even when their bbiq is equal. It's really hard to compare and I think Bron is the GOAT with one of the best bbiqs ever, but Lowry also has one of the best. Lowry's one skill that was overlooked was getting his teammates going and making sure they felt involved and knowing which plays to call for whom and when to kickstart them or ride the hot hand.

Am I right, a couple years ago Banchero was considered the better player of their two young star forwards? Wagner is clearly the superior player now

Banchero hasn’t been great really, but he was actually amazing tonight. I just looked at the box scores, and despite that last brick he shot 9/19, 2/4 from 3, and finished with a 23/15/10 triple double.

Lol 30% is about one out of 3. But ya. He certainly misses on a lot of open catch and shoot ones. I could be wrong but I prefer he takes those where he is in motion, the catch and shoot is almost guarantee miss. My eye test without looking at stats is he makes the fluid ones at higher clip. Perhaps I have selective memory lol.

A playoff series against the Magic would be insane. I think we would probably win it but it'd be tough. Scottie vs. Paulo, that would be great for the NBA, Scottie's legacy, and getting our guys recognition on the biggest stage.

Not sure we win it. They didn't have Suggs and Wagner, and Isaak. True, we also did not have Poeltl and RJ, but I think it could go either way.

Wagner has been their best player while Suggs is their engine like mini Lowry. Magic would clearly be favored against us in a series if the rosters stay intact.

Return to Toronto Raptors
