If trading Trae means attaching Risacher or a first round pick...sign me up.

If the cost is IQ, Jakob and Ochai...that's a worthwhile gamble to take on Trae. And honestly...I'd be even happier if Trae opts out in the summer and leaves...

January 7 is a key date. That's when Jakob is eligible to be traded.

Trae and his team working on the trade is crazy to me but kudos to the Hawks for not just sending him anywhere out of the blue

Yeah Trae looks like he’s done with the Hawks. Body language is pretty much of someone who’s mentally not part of that team

It's not like IQ's defense is great...his size limits him defensively just like it limits Trae

For the hawks it makes a lot of sense to get back a big expiring in cj.

We cant really offer something like that for them.

I'm not familiar with Trae's game enough to compare him to IQ, mainly going off of reputation. Some people were selling IQ as a good defender coming from the Knicks, but if you go back and look at defensive analyses by Knicks fans, he was mainly defending well against bench guards.

In terms of defensive metrics, Trae still seems much worse than IQ (118 vs 115 DRtg, -3.2 vs -0.2 DBPM). So I'm imagining what a skinny 6'1 Gradey Dick looks like on defense..that's assuming Trae even hustles and hits his rotations.

IQ is like a pylon
Trae Young is a red carpet to the basket

The more you watch iq trying to be a pg the more you understand the appeal of a trae young

they kind of have to because he has the ability to opt in for his huge salary next year, which will torpedo a team's cap sheet. So the receiving team needs to either be willing to absorb that, or offer him an extension that gets him to drop the player option

i'm just curious how much the defense would take a hit based on Trae's defensive prowress.

That is his leverage in the situation. A team like WSH might not care though.

He'll bring our O to contender status though

defence by a PG is overrated any way

No one raves about Curry's defence, Brunson's, Luka's.

Gimme that good playmaking and 3s, our long boys can cover the rest

It'll be interesting to see if our name pops up in the whole Trae saga within the next 24 hours.
Hawks FO was in Toronto for the past 72+ hours. Talks must've taken place, and if the interest is legit, it'll be revealed.

If Stein (or heck even his disciple Fischer) links the Raps to Trae - it's very legit.

Maybe the Wizards talk is to get us to pay up a lil more

Its unusual for a whole FO to be at a away game though right?

I agree, but Trae is capable of 25/10, does that make up the difference in defense

I'm not big on Trae, but I think he would still be an upgrade over IQ...as long as you're getting him for cheap.

The fact there is nothing out there makes me feel there is something there with Raptors. There are obvious defensive concerns but Trae offensively fills many many holes for this team.

Last year with the Hawks and Raptors after BI, most reports had it seem BI going to Atlanta. We know how that worked out.
