I'd much rather take current IQ over current JSuggs who's at a similar price point

I’d take Suggs in a heart beat lmao. He’d make us the best in the east and I’m not being hyperbolic.
But then again, he can’t seem to play 60 games in a season cause he plays defence so damn hard lol.

our offense would suffer with suggs. our D is already good (enough). rather have IQ

It would be better because he wouldn’t lead our team in touches like IQ does now lol.
We’ve been bottom 3 in offence for the last month or so. IQ isn’t impacting our offence as much as you’re giving him credit for.

we would be worse without IQ's spacing. teams would run zone on us all day

Every single advanced metrics have Suggs being the better player and the eye test shows it.
I don’t think the level of play is in question, Suggs is definitely the better player. The question is health.

my argument is Suggs is better overall player but a worse fit for our starting line up. also agree his health holds him back

If he could stay healthy, I'd also take him in a heartbeat but I'm skeptical that he can.

I think there's some legit durability concerns with him. He's still never cracked 30 mpg before and he's at 234 games played over almost 4.5 ish years. Having a great season in the mins he does play though this year.

I don’t think he can be durable. He plays too hard lol, beyond reckless with his body.

I mean health is a pretty big thing here. IQ playing games is better than Suggs sitting on the bench.
I mean sure IQ leads us in touches, but he is actually 4th in front court touches. A lot of IQ's "touches" are him simply dribbling the ball up and passing it to get us into our actual action. Front court touches are:It would be better because he wouldn’t lead our team in touches like IQ does now lol.
Ingram - 39.3
Barnes - 37.5
RJ - 29.5
IQ - 28.5
Sure, but why is this put on IQ's shoulders? The bottom 3 offence has a lot more to do with us having 40% of our starting lineup missing for pretty much the entire month and our team (including IQ) just going ice cold from 3.We’ve been bottom 3 in offence for the last month or so. IQ isn’t impacting our offence as much as you’re giving him credit for.
To me it feels like IQ is getting held to some weirdly high bar. I think people see "$32.5M" and are stuck in 2010 and think that is all-star money.

Yeah, so I don't know how you value someone like that especially if "effort" is one of his biggest strengths and you're getting a way less effective player if he tones it down.

It’s only an issue because he’s just not simply good at being a PG lmao. His touches are basically empty touches, it doesn’t lead to anything.

I don’t either, I just think the gap between them in terms of impact on winning is just pretty wide when they’re on the court.
I completely understand why someone wouldn’t want to do the trade due to health reasons.

Exactly. I'm quite sure the vast majority of folks on here would run the franchise as some 1980's miser owner just trying to pinch a penny every which way. Doesn't work like that. Don't look at absolute numbers when talking salary, look relative. Of all players listed as a "PG", IQ ranks 20th in AAV. That sounds just about right to be honest, and may even be a slight bargain, which is crazy.
FACT: NBA players -- especially decent ones -- get paid A LOT OF MONEY

I mean if you get this version of Suggs, then yes. But, if you get last year's version, it's a much closer discussion.

That's a bold take. Suggs averages15pts in about 25 minutes per game, 60% TS. 33% from 3 (less spacing) but great D. Excellent FT%.
It's hard to predict how that would translate on the Raptors but generally you trade for the better player and let the coach figure out how to integrate the player. A 60%TS player should not be that hard to integrate. If I recall he is a good C&S 3pt shooter (at least against the Raptors) but not as good at other 3pt.
My main concern would be his health, though. He seems a bit injury prone.

It’s only an issue because he’s just not simply good at being a PG lmao. His touches are basically empty touches, it doesn’t lead to anything.
But what is the issue exactly? Our offence for the most part is not initiated or ran by IQ because we have players like Ingram and Barnes at the 3 and 4 who are pretty good initiators and playmakers for their positions.
But his deficiencies as a PG are vastly overstated on this board. What PG are you getting to replace IQ that is going to "be good at being a PG" that makes a difference? Oh yeah, and don't forget he also is our best shooter and is still a solid defender at the 1.
You literally are just complaining he is not an all-star caliber player. Because if you get an upgrade on IQ that is what you are asking for.

He is compensating for lackadaisical D from Franz, Paolo etc. Alongside Scottie, CMB, BI, Yak, Shead, etc he'd put us legit in the top defensive teams in my opinion.

I think injuries are kinda random to an extent so i dont love throwing around the injury prone label. Buf for Suggs man he can barely stay on the court he has 1 healthy season out of 5. And he will probably miss another 4-5 weeks with his MCL injury.
