The issue is that 18 PPG isn't the same as what it use to be now that there's an incredibly high pace. Scottie has to be more aggressive getting to his spots and seeking out mismatches off ball.

The other part is that he needs to work on break down moves. I remember once when he hit a cross over and he was surprised he fooled the defender.

When people bang this gong, it cannot be repeated enough that he isnt now, has never been, and will never be a natural scorer. At some point, this needs to sink in.

Yup. There was a time when many, myself included, hoped he’d take that next step as a scorer…and it just isn’t happening. Doesn’t mean he isn’t an extremely talented and valuable player.

He can improve. The biggest hurdle is his handle and ball security which looks improved.

Sure, he has some room to improve. But people need to stop treating him like a natural scorer, and to stoo heaping heavy scoring expectations on him.

Still crazy how Jalen Johnson, MPJ, Siakam, Ball, and OG are ahead of both Ingram and Scottie, lol.

Meh, votes only matter for top 5.

The 7 reserves will be chosen by the coaches.

Yes but I think it's still important to also support your guys when they are deserving. Barnes was outside the top 20 for the East which is a slap in the face.

Go vote people....tomorrow is TRIPLE THE VOTE day.

Hopefully the whole USA vs the world thing doesn't screw Scottie over

Voted, Canada has to do a better job of supporting their guys.

I know a lot of people checked out of the Raptors after the championship but cmon guys. We’re like the only international country that doesn’t support their own players, even Canadian players don’t get that love.

It’s a shame.

Didn’t SGA lead all guards in votes last year? And it wasn’t particularly close.

I find it interesting how his 3pt shot always starts out strong in the season and then continually trends downward into the low 30s. He's taking way less 3s now, too. And of course, his PPG is trending downwards. He just can't seem to keep that 20ppg going steady. This is seen now for multiple seasons that it's set a trend.

In-season development guys on the Raps gotta do a better job. By the way in case some people are confused, I'm not crapping on Barnes in any way, he's basically been our best player this season by a solid margin, but I still want to see his offensive capabilities improve, even if it's incrementally.

Good point, I am curious to know what the month by month 3% is for each of our rotation player, to see if there is validity to this, or if it's an isolated issue with Scottie.

I’m not a pro ball player, but I am human, so I have that in common with Scottie. So I can feel like I can understand how challenging it can be to have his role, status with the team challenged by the acquisition of Brandon as #1 option. The way he took that happening and leaned into, well maybe instead of slinking back I can find other areas to show leadership, and then do it pretty consistently for the entire season now, is commendable. Like IQ, he’s not chasing a bag - he’s chasing expectations he set for himself and an obligation he feels for team and fanbase - and it’s been great this year.

Is that what's happening?

Right now, we're seeing pretty good play from Scottie. He's giving us 19/8/5, and this year unlike last year, he's still a shade above league average efficiency, whilst only shooting 34.7% from 3. He is having about the same strong season on the defensive boards as last year, is back up over 7% ORB (and actually authoring his best TRB% of his career to date), passing well, setting his career-high in BLK%, 2nd-best in STL%. We've scaled back his usage a little and he is thriving in his role. He's playing fantastic defense and fitting well into our scheme.

Is he not basically doing what we all wanted, apart from the hyper-unrealistic notions of him turning into a star-level individual scorer? He is having a career-best season so far.

What is it people have to complain about, apart from him not being a superstar?

he’s about to be in his 2nd all star game as a 24 year old while also getting a lot of talk to make an all-defensive team while leading a team to the playoffs this year…and this is what you come up with?

he’s having an amazing season

**** all u ingrates, Scottie might be the best 2 way player since Prime Kawhi and KG beforehand. He brings it on both sides every single game while his consistency and maturity is getting better and better every game. Why the preoccupation about points, the teams has enough scorers and Scottie usually brings it in crunch time. He rebounds, he facilitates, he defends and does all the intangibles, he might just be the most complete player in the NBA this side of Victor Wembanyama. If the NBA prioritizes 2 way play instead of points Scottie is 1b to Victors 1A in NBA MVP race, that's just straight facts.
