That's crazy.

Who would willingly wanna go to Washington?

Maybe Trae has CTE... maybe it's best not to trade for him.

He's eyeing a team he can make "his" and they've probably sent word they would extend him.

That's the only reasonable explanation. Maybe he thoughts "which team am I most likely to con into giving me the max?". Washington makes more sense in that case as his "preferred" destination

I know there was potential flags about BI as a fit with his play style/injury concern. To me Trae personality/ego of wanting to be the guy is bigger than issues with play style, injury concern, etc. This is the sort of potential cancer that can affect the entire team. For all the issues this team has, at least it doesn't seem to have any character/personality issues...at least none that are easily visible.

Ive wanted Trae all along but if Washington is really at the top of his list, I want nothing to do with him. That tells you where his priorities are and thats all about him.

Agreed 100%. You can already tell by his play style (high usage, lack of hustle, no defense, etc) that he is mainly concerned about him. I don't think he fits the team. What message would that send to our guys most of which who bust their tails off every night to bring in a high usage player who only plays on the offensive side? I don't like it one bit.

Ya I was buying that maybe he would try slightly harder to improve on the defensive end after being rejected by his own team. The fact he wants to go to Washington tells me he wants to do the exact same thing and is fine with it (racking up stats with 0 defense and perpetual losing).

He saw how they took care of Beal and Wall ($) with zero results and expectations and has decided he wants that. Have at it then.

I’m playing devils advocate. I tend to agree with you and previous posters…..but

Or he feels they have some good young pieces as it is, they have quite a bit of cap space coming up, and another high lotto pick.

And another Orrrrrr….its like Masai said: guys get paid first and then worry about a team later.

He’s still just 27. I’m not surprised his priority is getting paid first. But even though I’m playing devils advocate I do tend to agree. Wanting to go to Washington…yuck

Wizards creating that French connection with Risacher, Sarr and Bilal. I like the idea and the talent.

Yah that's the thing. Washington needs to reach the cap floor and they can do it pretty easily by over-paying Trae for a couple seasons. I don't think it indicates anything megative about him. Of course players want to maximize cash.

This is also why Houston paid Fred 2/80 when they did. I don't see why anyone would criticize a player for doing it. Plus the wizards have a bunch of spins at the roullette wheel. Tons of prospects plus two more incoming picks this summer. I wouldnt be surprised if they offered to extend Trae another year because they won't need to start spending money until summer 2028 and they need to hit the floor in the meantime.

Fact is...any team that is currently competing was probably gonna ask him to opt out and sign 2/80 but there's no reason why wizards won't pay him 2/100 or hell, 2/110. No competing team probably wants to do that (and no other tanking team has the expiring - mccollum - to get it done easily).

Sure guys like to win....but it's not worth 20 or 30 million bucks.

Too bad. I'm starting to wonder if raps should just stand pat. Seems that the opportunity to get better is at the 2 guard positions....and there's just nothing that constitutes an upside opportunity for now.

Maybe things in cleveland continue to get worse....donovan mitchell starts acting like a brat....and we get a shot at Garland.

Not a single pick for him. I like that for the Wizards, a good gamble.
