Rather go after AD or even Lively if we were on the market to make a big splash.

Can see Brooklyn going after Morant

Yeah......he's not really a fit in Toronto as a player or citizen.

For Bane they got a nice haul and Bane has been a negative player on Orlando so far after being relatively good on Memphis. He’s also 27 now.

Morant’s advanced stats would put him worse than anyone on our team other than Agbaji I think this season lol. Then you add the gun, injuries and attitude issue and this is a very easy player to move off. They clearly like their other young players better and seem to know how to win with them.

The spacing is suspect enough as it is..

I’d prefer Lamelo, Garland or Jrue

Hard to believe "multiple" teams are actually serious about getting him.

Can't say I've kept up with Morant's on-court production over the years, but looking at his numbers, he hasn't been a star-calibre player for 3-4 years. And given how much he relies on his athleticism, I wouldn't expect him age well. I could see him being out the league in his early thirties, like Steve Francis. Off the court, he's obviously a complete and total idiot. I'd pass.

Sam Amick of the Athletic has some interesting intelligence on the market: The reason Trae Young got the Hawks so little is that General Managers serious about developing a contender are putting a higher price on two-way players - stars who can play decent defence.

Unless you go the way of Nikola Jokić and Steph Curry — stars who faced early criticism for their ability on that end, only to grow into capable defenders — you face serious scrutiny. And, in Young’s case, a lack of leverage when it’s time to relocate.

He’s not alone, though. As one scout told me recently, that’s a quiet subplot to this trade deadline season when it comes to some of the high-profile stars who might be available. If you don’t guard, then trading you might be hard.

“(Memphis’) Ja (Morant), Trae and (Charlotte’s’) LaMelo (Ball) don’t have that much value because the game has changed around them,” he said.

Pretty much.

Ja is a pass first PG. High ceiling. Great contract. IQ dick and ocahi for Ja and GG gets you under the tax

PG market is weak so its much cheaper than AD

It is annoying when the market gets smart and efficient, but the signs were there for a few year's now.

MPJ, Poole, Herro (could not find a buyer for Lillard trade), BI (he was expiring and we moved KO to them), even KAT when you look at what they got for him. A lot of these guys had little to negative value (this also explains RJ). The last true liability to go for a haul was Lillard, and the league saw how little additional value, if not negative, that had over Jrue. Brunson got that targeted experience last playoffs.

"The vision" is directionally correct in this era. The proof is in the pudding and the FOs are acting accordingly.

It's more likely people will say "why did you waste assets on a guy who can't shoot from distance, is worse defensively, isn't available and is causing problems in the locker room?"
