I hear you, but Tim MacMahon isn't going to put out baseless rumors out there and - if I recall correctly - he called RJ a "potential future Mav" very recently.

I mean rumors can start from a 60 second phone call that is, "if you gave us AD for RJ + Jakob, what picks would you give to us to entice us?" and DAL says "we would give none".

Boom. Rumor that TOR is interested.

• 2027-28 Salary: ~$62.8 million (Player Option).

If a team trades for him today, they inherit these exact numbers. They cannot change his 2025-26 or 2026-27 numbers. The only way Davis could "take less" is if he declined his $62.8 million player option for the 2027-28 season and signed a new, longer deal starting at a lower annual figure (e.g., 4 years, $160 million)—but he cannot do this until that option year arrives or through a complex "renegotiation and extension" which is only available to teams with significant salary cap space.
