Overall, I give this trade a B. It would have been B+/A- territory if we had gotten a pick or even swapped our 30 for like the 18th pick or whatever, but it is what it is. There's been scuttlebutt that the Hawks were asking for a 1st.

It’s interesting that while we Zards fans thought a FRP should be coming our way in the trade, the NBA insiders I’ve read or heard on the trade thought the Zards would have to give up a FRP to get Trae.

These are the same idiots who thought Portland got swindled in the Deni trade. League insiders/GM's/Scout's etc habitually overrate guys like Trae until its too late.

In b4 they announce Trae has a calf strain and/or hip flexor.

Starts with Trae Young trade discussion then goes into talking about Deni Avdia.... Apparently Deni has now been playing the PG. Portland is basically doing everything with him we all wanted here. :banghead:

But its some good discussion on both subjects, worth a listen if you have time...

why does every discussion have to devolve into a deni one?

Because in addition to inventing the zip lock bag, little known fact, Deni also invented AI. So every post is wired to include Deni

I liked it better when "AI" referred to Allen Iverson....

The Oklahoma connection

I forgot about that. Will Dawkins has known Trae since he was a kid. And Trae is familiar with Brian Keefe and a couple of the coaches cause they were in OKC

There has been an avalanche of "ATL should have gotten a pick from the Wizards" talk from YouTube content creators, pretty funny now

It sounds like Trae is leaving it up to the Wizards staff and medical team on when he will return to the court. In other words, he isn't coming back soon.

Atlanta trading Young this year was like us trading Beal a couple of years too late. And in a roundabout way, we traded Beal for Young, plus other stuff. Just like us, Atlanta gets crushed in the media for not getting more for Young. Worked out OK for us with Beal and we'll see how it turns out with Atlanta and Young. Kind of interesting.

At least in our situation, the downside is way more limited than it was for Phoenix. The worst that can happen for us is that he sucks and we just wasted $49M in cap room for one season - a season when we were going to be hard-pressed to spend that money anyhow. The downside for Phoenix was obviously much more severe, with 4 lost FRP swaps, 4 lost SRP's and having to eat 4 years of Beal's contract, the final two years of which were stretched out until 2030.

The Beal trade blew up the Suns. They didn't win one playoff game with Beal on the roster. They won 6 playoff games in the season before trading for him.

Sorry you had to witness that last night Trae, I wonder what he was thinking?
