I don’t know.. Fisher is somewhat credible but I have a hard time believing this… but then again, I also think Bobby is gonna be desperate and end up making some bad trades.

Guess this bit rules out Sabonis to Raps.

Last February phew.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan

Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Would’ve been a horrendous trade.

I wonder what we were offering this time around.

Maybe just IQ + Ochai ?

I mean. It could've been IQ + two 2nds for all we know. Maybe they wanted Okongwu too. It could have just been a fishing expedition. "Offers" from a year ago are way too hard to substantiate.

That was last year at least, and was an all-star.

Absolutely no way the same package was on the table this season, though it is saying something about IQ's perceived "value"

Unfortunately the length of IQ and JPs contracts damn near make it improbable they get moved in the next 2
years.

e've also been writing and reporting since November that the Kings aren't expected to pursue Morant, either. New Kings general Scott Perry routinely talks about what he regards as organizational “pillars,” which feature tenets such as “discipline, accountability and professionalism.” The Kings have also let it be known that they are reluctant to take back long-term salary as part of any in-season business they might conduct.

The latter is a major roadblock in any discussion regarding Toronto's oft-discussed interest in Domantas Sabonis and all of the above would seem to limit the likelihood of the Kings as a Morant landing spot.

Quick aside on the Toronto/Sabonis discussion specifically: League sources tell The Stein Line that the Kings are not interested taking back the contracts of either Immanuel Quickley or Jakob Poeltl.

What about Toronto as the team that takes a chance on Morant?

While we were working this week to pinpoint any other potential suitors for Young outside of Washington, we learned that the Raptors were another team that expressed some interest in the Hawks' point guard. Sources say that Toronto actually offered a package built around Quickley and draft capital for Young before last February's trade deadline and maintained a level of interest in Young this season.

Yet sources say that the Hawks had no interest in a Quickley-headlined package given the future money he's owed. The Hawks staunchly prioritized the ample flexibility they now have before the the Feb. 5 trade buzzer and possibly into free agency next summer by taking back CJ McCollum’s expiring $30.7 million salary as the key return in their Young deal. Let's see now if that leads the Raptors -- with Davis facing an all-new injury crisis and no easy pathway to Sabonis -- to pivot to Morant.

One potential roadblock pointed out by our Sportsnet colleague Michael Grange: Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic spent three years on Taylor Jenkins' Memphis staff. Will that encourage or dissuade the Raptors from lodging an offer?

multiple picks? Yikes. I guess Masai and Bobby knew they messed up there, but at the same time were once again fortunate enough to have another front office protect us from making a bad deal.

This team got desperate to get rid of the expiring contracts of Siakam/OG and traded for expiring contracts (IQ Jakob), and then resigned said players with just as much desperation since they were a threat to leave as free agents. And now in desperation to rid of em. There's a pattern here. They need to stop making moves until it's last minute! This all started with the FO taking their sweet ass time to make a move on Siakam and OG, waited until the very last minute (when their value cratered). Indecisiveness can be costly.

Poeltl extension was entirely Bobby.

Ed should have fired him a year earlier, all for this could have been avoided.

Sure, but trading for him was a Masai move, which basically led to all of this, Jakob was a fine player but he was not a fit given the context of our team's situation at the time.

lol it does seem like they’re regretting those IQ and Yak extensions now. I think let’s just hope they rehab their play and those contracts look better. With IQ I think at least a tiny bit of upside there as he’s learning a new position and he’s not shooting as well as his reputation is.

IQ is officially a toxic contract.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
