Yak...guys he had a bad back for half a season.. holy **** the nut job overreactions...

IQ is 52nd highest player now. Maybe overpaid 5-10m, even though based on his production and availability he is outperforming a few players who make more than him.

Next year he will be 65-70th highest paid player. Following year close to 100th, it is likely he will be underpaid paid in his final year when he will fall out of the top 100.

Not every contract fits every team. IQ and Jak makes no sense for a team trying to win ping pong balls.

IQ/Yak make sense for no teams....Which team wants to eat their salaries if they are not producing at their salaries? These are role players on championship teams not starters imo....IQ is a 6th man, Yak would be best suited as a 20-25 min bench big.....Thats if you are a title contender....

No teams want these kind of players on the deals they are on in the NBA They would much rather just have the cap space or young prospects/picks....

We are stuck with IQ/Yak which might also end up in the loss of RJ/Mamu as well. Doubt we can find a team to take IQ/Yak off us and i would not give FRPs to get off them either.

No teams

You just don’t look around the nba enough. The value of pretty much any teams non-elite players if fairly minimal. It’s just the reality of how the cap works and how teams fill out their cap and it’s very, very tough to find deals.

The only time you see IQ/Jakob level guys get moved is when they are expiring (how we got IQ), teams are entering rebuilds (how we got Jak), or if they are on a sweetheart deals (Bridges, etc.)

As much as it’s your absolute cream for our team to be 13 rookie salary guys and 3 all-nba max contracts, it simply isn’t going to happen.

Having positive contracts that players are playing to their level of the money they are making vs the situation you are trying to spew out are two different realities.....No one said IQ/Yak are horrible players like i said they are prolly good role players on the actual good teams in the NBA....I don't see IQ/Yak being starters on an actual title contender team but thats just me....

These guys are viewed as negative assets league wide for a reason....Not just me saying it and the many others here its known in trade discussions as well that these teams do not value these players and its for good reason...

The only way we get off IQ/Yak is if we attach picks to them....Or we try and trade for one of the big salary flawed star guys on the market and hope one of these teams are ok with eating these salaries for draft compensation.

But again this team could go down any time and then you are left with a meh team with no draft pick....While also losing RJ/Mamu for nothing because we do not have enough to pay them.....Its not the best situation to be in...

Kings have refused to rebuild even after trading Fox and are probably still trying to win in their own way (stupidly so) so we got no idea if theyre even trying to tank. Atlanta is trying to win right now and still chose expirings over a 26 year old IQ.

IQ and Poeltl are extreme negative deals and thats all what my point is. You can put whatever homer take you want on this lol.

Trading multiple first round picks for mediocre players, while being a "rebuilding" team. Tanking the value of his good players, because of indecisiveness are some of the reasons why he should have been let go. He had a great run, but he was turning into Joe Dumars, some excellence have a shelf life, nothing wrong with acknowledging that

And yet here we are, top 4 in the east currently.

Can you guys just come out and admit already that no matter what happens you’re gonna be upset?

Way to generalize to make a point that didn't exist. Throughout Masai's career I have been a supporter, it's only the last 5 years things have changed, his record of moves speaks for itself. Ps. I also tend to make positive posts when the context calls for it, you can look through my history of posts instead of just making assumptions. Not every poster is easy to box into the narrative you are trying to paint them with, sit this one out my friend

IQ's value bounced back somewhat this year with better health and defense while Young's value tanked. its a bullet dodged as far as im concerned.

Surprised it took nearly 40 posts for this to be brought up. IQ missed almost the entire first half of last season (he played in just 9 of our first 47 games) and the Pacers pick didn’t hold near as much value as it did 4 months later when Haliburton inevitably tore his Achilles in the Finals. When it comes to Trae, he was in the midst of another all-star season and he was putting up elite numbers (23/3/12) while the Hawks were still in playoff contention.

No context being applied to this whatsoever from so many people. IQ is not a toxic asset in the slightest. He is slightly overpaid right now, but he is performing decently well so far this season and his contract is more than likely going to end up being fair value by the end of it.

I’m simply sharing the news. It’s on people to consider the full context before jumping to conclusions.

I agree with you. IQ is far from a toxic asset and even if he is an unattractive asset for teams right now - the age, durability, upside all suggest he’ll eventually live up to his contract.

I have no problem holding onto him. His numbers are good but I do wish he was better at creating for others. Would make a huge difference for the team.

The Poeltl contract is what’s gonna really cost this team. We’ll probably end up losing RJ because of it…

Ingram will opt out and we will have to choose between one of RJ and Ingram to keep if we want to stay under the tax. I suspect Ingram is let go and our future starting line up in 2 years is

Poeltl

Barnes
RJ

I think some doomers need to chill a bit. IQs Contract is bad, but he is available and plays and is not awful at that, so there is at least some value.
Yak situation is very simple: If his injury is as bad as his haters say, i would not be surprised if he gets waived or he even retires.
Otherwise, he will come back, be his usual self and a lot of people will go very silent all of a sudden.

Why makes these kinds of definitive statements? There's various ways things could play out. He could get injured and pick up the Player Option. He could decline his player option and extend for longer term at lower AAV. He could get traded even too. If they're ducking the tax in a year or 2, it's likely because things have gone really badly and the team probably looks different anyways.

Ingram only goes if he wants out. So far its Scottie and BI as our 1a and 1b. Rumors are they have been shopping RJ for a year now; its RJ that will go when push comes to shove.

I don't get why people feed into Jake fischer rumors. He's never right. Just a lot of saying anything. Always has the raptors in his mouth for some reason.

Thing with Raptor fans....Jake or any other reporter (Woj included) is only right when its positive or when it benefits the Raptors....When its Negative (Kawhi/These contracts) They are wrong and know nothing....Been like that for a while now...

Most likely these are true reports coming out because it is more likely that teams do not value 6th men type players being paid 32+ million a year....IQ is okay but hes not some dynamic player we are talking about....Yak has a cooked back in his 30s....Who would want that contract for the next 4 years?

Thankfully that didn’t happen. Trae’s value has plummeted while IQ has stayed healthy and played in every game.

Atlanta, being as bad as they are, shouldn’t be taking on long-term contracts. They are an awful basketball team. Sometimes it’s good to try and get a clean slate and take a loss. They will get some contracts off the books this offseason, not sure if they owe any picks to the Spurs still but they might finally be in a position to move forward.

Of course you think it’s true. It could very well be true. But Jake Fischer is wrong a lot. Look through his tweets over the years. It’s fun to discuss these things but I think most don’t take these “rumours” too seriously especially given the fact, they are suddenly being reported a year after the fact and coincidentally right after Trae got dealt.

There’s a lot of reasons for these things to be made up. Often times from teams.

We KNOW they were/are looking for upgrades.
We got one done grabbing Ingram.

If BI and Barnes who they knew they wanted to keep, then obviously the upgrades would be IQ, RJ or Yak for the starters.

Or maybe it was pre-BI so we were looking to trade IQ, maybe KO, and picks. Who knows.

You are not upgrading on anyone without adding picks or youth. Expect more rumors between now and deadline. We know this isn't close to a finished product. It's barely gotten started.

Too much yapping on here when the Raptors were always going to see how this roster fared before doing anything and now people are bitching that they’re observing the roster. Funny enough the Raptors have actually improved to the point where they’re now looking to make the team even better by finding more star quality players that have reduced value.

I really have no clue what people are bitching about lol. You have to try to make lopsided trades to win them and you’re going to be rejected by teams until you find one that give in. If Bobby called up and offered IQ and Poeltl for Trae that makes zero sense for Atlanta lol. Obviously they rejected it. They have no need for Quickley. Last season Quickley was on year two of being injured and this year NAW had been great for them along with Daniels.

**** and giggles on the trade machine….

Raptors
Get Lamelo and Connaughton
Trade IQ, Ochai, and Poeltl
Why? Raptors get a shot creator. Hope McKechnie fixes his body. Hope the players and organization impact Ball’s habits. Hope Darko does what he did twitch RJ to Lamelo.

Hornets
Get Sabonis, IQ, Hield
Trade Bridges, Connaughton, and Lamelo
Why? Hornets have sucked for a long time. They get murdered on glass. Lamelo is yelling “f*ck that mofo” at the coach on the hallway. Bridges been rumoured to be on the block.

Warriors
Get Poeltl and Ochai
Why? Get a C. Get improved perimeter D. Save bunch money.

Kings
Get Bridges and Kuminga
Trade Sabonis
Why? Get younger and faster.

Everything is a matter of perspective and time. The fact those deals didn’t go through (if they were even on the table), just looks better for the Raps now.

IQ probably has more value than Trae now.

Return to Toronto Raptors
