if you can get Morant on the cheap, you have to go for it.

Had anybody told you that BI would be leading the league in total minutes,at any point, this season, anyone would have laughedOL.
His fitness will get better under our fitness staff. Plus Ja could change his game a little, he just does not have to use his athleticism so recklessly all the time.

During the playoffs 2022, Morant and BI looked like future all-time greats.
Under a more "docile environment" with smooth BI and Scottie, it would be a championship combination.

Hard no on Morant, if only for character reasons. I never want to have to cheer for a guy like that.

And reading Doug Smith's mailbag in the Star today it'll never happen anyway, phew.

maybe we've looked at the data and decided we want to lean into this strategy to win games

Are you watching him? Hes already not using his athleticism this season. He's spoken about as much. That adjustment has been made already and he still sucks and still misses games. Hes not played 7 consecutive games in YEARS now. And hes not jumping as high or as often as he ised to anymore. Its debatable he doesnt even have all that athleticism left in the tank because when he does dunk now, hes just rim grazing them in. He doesn't get as high as he used to. Its all bad on multiple levels. Stay away.

Give me JJJ over both.

A Scottie - CMB - JJJ front court could post a near or below 100 DEF RTG.

He's 26, soon to be extremely expensive, and can stretch the floor. Perfect fit next to the other two, but obviously much more difficult to acquire. Memphis seems to headed to a full rebuild and they love picks. That's the guy I would target.

Trading away CMB to acquire Morant is mortgaging competing at the highest level for immediate ticket sales.

CMB and Scottie give this squad a tremendous defensive floor. It'd be foolish to break it up for a precarious player like Morant.

The cost is IQ and Ochai plus one pick. That's it.

It's like we have never seen an uber athletic player shutting it down in a midst of quitting on his team. those "things" just dont go away like that. Watch him jump over players as soon as he is out of that organization.

IQ + Dick + Ochai + 2026 1st (lottery protected) for Ja + Landale.

Landale is exactly the type of backup/3rd Center this team needs. The 1st is to get off IQs deal + get Landale + get below the tax line.

Ja/ Shead/ Chucky
RJ/ Walter/ Martin
Ingram/ Battle/ Lawson
Barnes/ CMB/ Mogbo
Poeltl/ Mamu/ Landale

The spacing for the team could become historically bad but the talent upgrade is immense lol.

Not a fan of Morant but that's a low enough cost to sign me up. If we can swap the pick with a dick even better.

Morant is a good gamble on a low value former star who has had issues recently. If the price is IQ + Poeltl I would go for it. No to adding CMB though. Dick and Walter are the "touchable" prospects but I'm very hesitant about letting them touch Dick.

His defensive improvements are important to note, and he's got another year on his rookie deal. I'm worried he'll put it together on another team and be a strong piece in a way they though Konchar would become.

We would be able to re-sign Mamu then? Maybe throw him in to sweeten the deal since he's likely gone anyway? Would that be enough to remove the pick? We need cheap talent and losing picks really hurts us. We have a lot of guys getting paid on the roster and we aren't a contender yet.

Poeltl / CMB
Barnes / Mogbo
Ingram / Walter
RJ / Dick
Morant / Shead

Morant's the 2nd or 3rd option? Would that sit well with him? Where do we get back the 3pt volume we lost?

I wouldn't refuse the deal because of Mamu. We may not be able to retain him anyways. Bobby would pay him 30M anyways.

If we trade away Dick and Agbaji for no salary or expirings we could offer 10M AAV. That doesn't seem to be enough and we'd risk getting out bid. I would say treating him as a pre free agent and selling him for even a 2nd rounder would be better than nothing. The ideal trade is consolidating him into a buy low star like Morant.

At this point we are the girl that gets passed around to everyone in the club and no one wants it....

Rumors for trades we have been in
KD
Giannis
Sabonis
Young
Lillard
Morant
AD

Will we actually trade for anyone we are in the rumors for? Who the hell knows.

I am not opposed to trade him to improve/consolidate talent. I don't disagree.
