If we trade away Dick and Agbaji for no salary or expirings we could offer 10M AAV. That doesn't seem to be enough and we'd risk getting out bid. I would say treating him as a pre free agent and selling him for even a 2nd rounder would be better than nothing. The ideal trade is consolidating him into a buy low star like Morant.

I am not opposed to trade him to improve/consolidate talent. I don't disagree.

The issue is that other teams won't value our guys like we do. Maybe RJ has a rehabbed value but the rim pressure is important. Someone like Morant could replace that but it would be risky. I'd argue that Morant might even be a better SG than PG long term.

Poeltl
Barnes
Ingram
Moron
IQ

RJ + Mamu + Dick for Morant. Then dump Agbaji with a 2nd for Richards?

We'd have a strong starting line up and the potential for another trade down the road could be there.

I'd try to keep RJ, but I'm biased I really like his game.

Lol at Moron. But not a bad lineup

Had anybody told you that BI would be leading the league in total minutes,at any point, this season, anyone would have laughedOL.
His fitness will get better under our fitness staff. Plus Ja could change his game a little, he just does not have to use his athleticism so recklessly all the time.

During the playoffs 2022, Morant and BI looked like future all-time greats.
Under a more "docile environment" with smooth BI and Scottie, it would be a championship combination.
Are you watching him? Hes already not using his athleticism this season. He's spoken about as much. That adjustment has been made already and he still sucks and still misses games. Hes not played 7 consecutive games in YEARS now. And hes not jumping as high or as often as he ised to anymore. Its debatable he doesnt even have all that athleticism left in the tank because when he does dunk now, hes just rim grazing them in. He doesn't get as high as he used to. Its all bad on multiple levels. Stay away.

It's like we have never seen an uber athletic player shutting it down in a midst of quitting on his team. those "things" just dont go away like that. Watch him jump over players as soon as he is out of that organization.
You claimed ja could change his game to not rely on his athleticism. I responded by saying hes already done that and hes still injury prone and quite frankly not good. Any other ideas?

And yeah...no. Vince had so much more to his game than athleticism that he was a worthy gamble to take. Skills and shooting etc. Ja? Not so much.

how much better or worse does our team look losing the spacing and marginally better defense IQ provides, but adding Ja's handles, rim pressure, court vision/playmaking, free throw attempts, and ability in transition? Do we become too easy to defend? He's not my preferred target, but we may not have other options

This board is obsessed with names. Do you remember when arenas had his gun issue? His career was never the same since. Morant is a head case who’s immature and his talent and productivity doesn’t make up for it.

The durability concerns are the biggest red flag with Ja.
He's losing his burst & explosiveness at a rapid rate.

I view him as a transient piece, similar to Ingram. Ideally you get him for cheap, raise the value and then trade him before he's up for another deal. We need two way guys for a contender. But 3 all stars between Morant, Barnes and Ingram should get us pretty close.

Does turning IQ into Morant make us a better team? If it does, I'm all for it.

Yeah but IQ is trash, things are relative. If we can get him without much picks it's a win, sunk cost and all.

You guys are trippin' trading IQ for any of these buns who we have to compromise our offense or defense for us horrible. WTF is JA gonna do our there when the ball is in Ingram or Barnes hands. Nor is JA willing to play a Darko style of offense, that's why he wants out n they want him outta Memphis. They've been trying to play . 5 basketball for the last 2yrs now.

Can you really justify his salary?
Buy low, sell high. If you can eventually flip him for actual value if he performs and has good behavior then it's a good move. I don't think Ja is the option long-term. I'd hate to see the Raptors stuck with a extend Ja.

Would y'all do this? (feel free to take out the 2031 pick if it's overkill)

A backcourt of Morant-Quick intrigues me a bit. I think IQ would excel as a SG w/ his primary ballhandler duties revoked.

Morant is an excellent playmaker and would be a huge upgrade at the PG position over IQ.

This narrative is changing, and also there’s been no way to prove it since we’ve never had max cap space
I believe in Masai.

Return to Toronto Raptors
