It’s been 15 years. Has anything changed?

20 years ago, I was working in TV and shadowing ADs in an attempt to becomes a production guy on Raptors Broadcasts (eventually director) to try and help this. Especially with talking heads, not split screening, but voice overing the action.

I had a legit career path with deep rooted contacts to make my way up.

I'm sorry to RealGM for choosing a different career path.

I read the OP first, thinking it was new and until Calderon mentioned.

Third paragraph in the OP was the biggest beef, closeups after baskets missing full court action. Also missing inbound plays because replay took too long.

Announcers are subjective but the truck has to be one of the worst in the league. Good thread to bump

I’ll trust that your competence in modding the board would have crossed over into a flawless in game production. You really let us down.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

You can tell the people in the truck have very little basketball knowledge with how they go away from the play on so many occassions.

Yup, as I was told a long time ago. Hockey is the 'big show' for these guys. So a lot of people are in these roles are wanting to be in the hockey production but not good enough.

At least this was the case back in the day.

Cutting to a replay or zooming in on a random fan while the ball has been inbounded is infuriating.

Also I seem to remember us getting these guys fired back in the day lol. The replacements weren’t any better.

One of my favourite parts of the production incompetence is how the audio stays live when they roll replays, so it tells on them when they’re missing live play. I can’t count how many times I’ve said “play is live right now” as they’re replaying a routine play from 2 possessions ago. You hear the whistle blow and shoes squeaking, that means things are happening.

They’re blessed to cover a sport that has such obvious audio cues. Imagine an NFL broadcast still showing replays after the ball is snapped, that’s how bad it is.

Constantly showing crowd or players. Or replaying something and missing live action

"SHUT UP WE'RE MAKING *cINeMA!*"

I love that this is a 15 year old thread and still the same problems persist

If they’re gonna show replays or zoom in on people’s face, why so late and for so long? It’s always jarring watching any other network telecast to see them stay in broadcast mode with minimal cutting of action.

With most people watching on large >55" TVs these days, they can afford to do more picture-in-picture or side-by-side so as to not miss as much critical live action.

They didn't even show Scottie's final free throw (intentional miss) in it's entirety last night.
