He's not but I think he can easily torpedo a potential destination. On top of all the other baggage that he comes with, do you really want to trade for him if he's made it know through back channels that he doesn't want to play for you?

Trading for Ja feels like a trade for the sake of making a trade. Something to generate news.

There are no compelling basketball reasons to bring him here.

Atlanta prioritized things we couldn't offer them. We couldn't force the hawks at gunpoint.

What? Spolestra's been in Miami for like 20 years, Ja's never played under anyone on the Heat's coaching staff

It says he wants to go to Miami, not necessarily play for the Heat  I can relate to that.

Bringing in a former 2 time all star for friggen Quickley isnt compelling?

If we're in the market for 2 time former all-stars who can't shoot and can't stay healthy, I'd rather roll the dice on Zion at PG than Morant

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/what-is-ja-morants-trade-value-here-are-6-potential-deals-for-the-grizzlies-star-guard-153249335.html

NBA sources don’t expect Morant’s market to be too much different than it was for Trae Young, who was dealt to the Wizards for just an expiring contract in CJ McCollum and a solid role player in Corey Kispert. But the Hawks preferred short-term or expiring deals. Memphis is taking the opposite approach: Executives around the league say the Grizzlies are signaling a willingness to take on bad contracts, if it means being compensated with young players or picks. But the Grizzlies aren’t going to get that much for Morant. Think pick swaps, not unprotected firsts. Think moderate bets on rookie contracts, not exciting young players. Even getting those assets might require Memphis to take on bad money in return.

If the cost is low like what KOC is thinking - IQ + Gradey + 2027 pick swap, would you do it?

The operative word is former.

Yeah it’s crappy and Vince doing it way back when makes it hit close to home but how about we be on the receiving end of that? I didn’t hear many Nets fans complaining about his 27.5 ppg post trade.

As for the durability concerns; we just did this all summer with Ingram. He’s been healthy *knock on wood* and came back pretty quickly from his hand injury. I think you can trust the medical staff by now.

The fit doesnt make sense on paper but Ja's such a talent upgrade over IQ that you make the trade if the price is as low as its being rumored. The current team is 1st round fodder so why not take the gamble on a player whos the same age with star potential. Worst case if it doesnt work, you trade Ja as an expiring contract for someone else.

Shame his stats don't back up this claim..

How about IQs stats? What has he proven in this league EVER? Thats who would be the main piece going the other way here... not like we're trading Barnes lol

There could be other players who are better fits like Garland/Ball/Trae over Ja but they have to agree to take your offer. IQ + fillers like Dick/Ochai arent really super compelling where other teams would be jumping over.

Go try to see if those other teams would accept your trash. If not then you'd be stupid NOT to make that trade.

No we're just trading for statistically worse shooter, poor POA, declining player on as bad or of a contract.

He put on a good show for a few seasons... And has been on a step decline every year since.

Raptor fans still valuing high character over pure talent is laughable. Did yall not learn your lesson from DeRozan for Leonard?

The point of the game is still to win, not hold hands in the locker room and sing Koombaya

All this talk about Ja not being a shooting threat got me tripping… ya’ll tweaking. This dude is definitely a bigger shooting threat than anyone we currently got on the team.

Real talk tho, getting off IQ contract for this guy even if he just get’s banned from the league is a win, Bobby with the 3D chess move.

Assistant coach. Changed the offense in memphis. Ja got him fired. Hired by the heat. Totally changed the heat offense to that same one ja hates. So yeah. Smart guy Ja.

You couldn't be more wrong! holding hands and singing Koombaya is the point of the game - winning is ancillary.

I think Ja was not in support of that firing,
