There are no compelling basketball reasons to bring him here.

Bringing in a former 2 time all star for friggen Quickley isnt compelling?

If we're in the market for 2 time former all-stars who can't shoot and can't stay healthy, I'd rather roll the dice on Zion at PG than Morant

I would rather have Jokic/Shai over all of them....

Takes two to tango though teams around the NBA do not like what we have to offer unless we are willing to trade multiple FRPs.....No one wants Quickley without getting draft compensation back...Teams that we could make a trade with more than likely don't like our trade packages and would rather hold out for better offers...

Thats why Morant is heavily in rumors to us because they might actually take Quickley for Ja....Not many teams are willing to do that.

I'm all for being involved to facilitate taking Herro over Ja and sending him to Miami where he wants to be. Compare last year Herro to IQ last year (Herro only played 9 games this year)

Herro in our system would drastically improve our offense and open up the floor for other guys in a way IQ can't. Ja on the Raptors makes no sense between him literally wanting to be in Miami and the fact he's a poor BB fit. If Herro wants an extension around the same money I'd be down to give him that as well depending on how he looks the rest of the season. He's also 6'5 which helps defensively if we have him as our shortest guy in the starting lineup

Miami has a lot of good trade assets for any team.

Rozier’s contract is an easy expiring to throw in. They then have guys like JJJ, Jokic, Dru Smith that can be included in deals. If they move a rotation piece it could be Wiggins or Herro.

Key thing is for them Ja can work cause their 2-5 spots can all shoot the 3 fairly well.

LaMelo definitely makes more sense for us. Especially a deal that can net him and Diabate for C depth. Even Plumlee I would take.

I think Ja deal for Raps would look like:

IQ, Dick, Ochai, 2026 first an 2 seconds. We also get Landale back as a back-up C. Biggest hole will still be C depth and 3 pt shooting even more.

LaMelo deal would probably be

IQ, Ochai Dick, 2 firsts and 2 seconds

For LaMelo and Diabate. Not sure Charlotte goes for that.

Delta is maybe just a first if that is the case you go LaMelo for sure, but I have a feeling Charlotte would ask for 3 fists. Which is warranted.

The more I think about it, the more I rather have Herro than Ja if we were to be somehow involved. Herro will be a better fit for us with his shooting.

Quickly is on a flat contract that gives us room to spend elsewhere. At 84% better than other nba players he makes what he should. If we get Herro we are going to have to max him and he is 94% better other nba players. Is the extra 10% worth spending so much of the cap at that position? I would rather spend it on the bench or C or have money for raises and be under the cap.

No doubt I’d rather have Herro as well.

His advanced metrics are actually quite good.
I’d love him on this team. Been a fan for a while.

Riley loves him though.

That's one reason I'm not in a huge rush to trade IQ just for the sake of getting him off this team. Even though the contract was an over pay it was a some what smart move having it flat.

Nearly exactly the same contract $$$ over 3 years vs 4 as IQ. Add in the injuries people really are happy to pay that "better contract" even though the guy is basically going to get 2x the dollar amount for every game played.

~127 million over 3 years vs 130 over 4 years.

I think the issue with IQ is less so the contract but more so he has a clear ceiling. It’s like when the Raptors had Calderon as their PG. he was serviceable, but clearly capped. I think as long as we have IQ at the 1 spot the offense is going to be continued stagnant. The most recent game we won against the sixers there was a pass IQ to CMB in the key where he drew in the defense and dished off to the ball in the key. Those are the type of chances your PG is suppose to generate. Unfortunately that is a once in a blue moon type of move by IQ. This is why when he is cold the rest of the offense also gets a bit cold cause he doesn’t generate easy opportunities to turn the tides. RJ in many ways is actually the best at doing that on the Raps better than Barnes and Ingram. Ingram is a strong one on one player hitting jumpers over defenders. But Barrett is our strong slashing down the lane and drawing in the defense and finishing in traffic or passing out. This is why our offense is so much better with RJ. RJ has learned to play within his strengths. So a better PG will not only improve our scoring chances. It will give us chance to not go stone cold offense. Also watching two straight games against the sixers you can clearly see IQ is the poor man’s version of Maxey. Passing not as good, defense not as good, shot a bit more shakey. But most notable is the strength and first step. This is where Ja will match Maxey on the first step blow by finish.

Don't know what the context here is, but we had Scottie get into it with Thad a few seasons back.
