If we give up picks/Herro then we are out of the Giannis race. We have waited so long for a whale, now a whale is goin to be on the market soon. JA is not the same player he was, Herro might be better then him now maybe lol. We need to keep our assests and only go for it for Rozier, kasperas etc..

If so that's another reason why you don't just throw them around right now. If Rozier/Tyler's salary and Ware, JJJ, Kaspar, 2 FRP isn't enough for a Giannis type player then 4 FRP should do it. Only we won't have Rozier's contract for matching salary in the offseason anymore.
Jovics full extension amount becomes eligible for trade.
Rozier and Jovic for Porzingis works

Not giving up picks for ja. No reason to take that risk if picks or youth (ware, jaime, pelle, etc..). Ja, trae, AD, etc.. is only for an injury for injury and fillers type deal. Gladly take a pick along with ja though.

I agree about the young players and picks. Those can't be involved in any kind of move but for an actual whale. Herro for Ja I have no problem with however, Herro doesn't really have much value around the league in case people haven't noticed.

Tiny sample, but we now have 2 games where Spo has finally gone to some minutes without Mitchell or Smith on the floor at PG to allow for Herro and Powell to play together without being forced into the wing rotation.
Herro-Powell-Jaquez-Wiggins-Adebayo (8 minutes):
133.3 ORTG
57.1 DRTG
+76.2 net rating
With Davion banged up, let's see if we get more looks at this. I maintain it can give us more offensive firepower and should be able to hold up defensively as long as Bam is always on the floor with this backcourt pairing

Instead of davion, it was jaime in that playmaker role. Hes more effective at it because he's a threat to score.
Herro was missing alot of looks last night.
Lol at that fake on bam.
Herro and powell are looking to only score. I think that's what spo wants them to do.

Yea since the early season I've contemplated that exact unit with Jaime as the optimal closing unit.
I still think a variation can work with Ware in rather than Jaime to start games, but it would def look a bit different with one less playmaker on the floor. Herro has some PnR chops, which Miami is increasingly folding into the offense tho.

Wide open lobs are too easy.
The only thing with Jaime is he just needs to continue to be a willing passer, his activity will draw attention when he attacks every time. Hes got to get over the tunnel vision and just make the right play, I think he had 5 assists in the last 4 minutes last night

Re: 2025-26 Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 3.0
Do you guys really want us to field a lineup consisting of Morant, Herro, and Powell? The defense is going to be comically bad. Who are we moving to the bench? Powell is going to be an all star this year as a starter. Herro refuses to come off the bench without him pouting. Is it possible to get Morant without giving up Herro? Sure it is but there needs to be a followup move. What's that move if Giannis is not available or if the Bucks are even interested in dealing him here or want a bounty full of picks. You can make the 3 above work but then you need to get off of Wiggins salary which means trading his contract for true expiring's next year which might happen regardless in order to have enough to extend Powell or Herro. This chit is not so cut and dry in just adding Morant's 39 million for expiring's as the cap and the apron's have to be considered for next year. Is the plan to just hope Powell walks for nothing to free up his 20 mil in salary off the books to resign Herro?

I agree on jaime. I think he's been a more willing passer and I think might be the best playmaker on the team.
He doesn't hesitate and goes straight to the rim. With bam in the dunkers spot and wiggs/powell/herro spacing, jaime has lanes to the rim or force the defense to bend for kick outs. Now imagine that with a guy like ja. Bam would get 10 pts a gane just on lobs.
Herro is more methodical. Hes a prober and likes to dribble first, explore his options, then decide what to do. It gives the defect fine to set. Imo, spo wants a guy who will cave the defense up the middle. And the slot guys to only focus on scoring.

If we really want Morant this is the deal that gets it done. If we offer Rozier, Simone, and KJ well then Morant will be on the Kings.

Herro + fontecchio for ja is the only trade that makes sense to me (or include davion for aldama). Then use the rozier contract to upgrade the big man or shooting depth.
Talk to powells agent and see what his asking price is. He'd be dumb to test free agency. 1 way small guards could be had for pennies right now.
Talk to wiggins agent. See if they are opting out, amenable to a team friendly extension, etc.. if not trade him at the deadline. And find a big 2 way wing the following off season.
But only if the get info.. cough..cough... bams agent.. that giannis isn't asking out.

I think Powell is going to come really cheap. Much cheaper then Herro because of age. Klay Thompson is making about 17 mil at age 34. If anything I think you could extend Powell at 18- 20 mil per. Herro is going to command a salary in the 30's probably similar to Jalen Green's contract.
