So, you think IQ and Jak are bad contracts but that their value goes down as we hold them longer and their contracts become shorter in length?

I don't think their play on the court will warrant any major returns for us regardless....These are not players that have major potential....They are both at the ages that you get what you see....These are not even OG/Siakam level players here they are meh players on big contracts that are only getting older and many teams do not value or want....

Could we maybe hold these guys for many more years and trade them as expirings in 3-4 more years?....Sure but what is the return going to really be? I can tell you the chances you get a player on even Morant/ADs level are slim....And these guys are also not developing into all stars or anything so you are just holding them to trade them for less value than AD or Morant anyways? While maybe losing RJ in free agency in the process?

You're still getting value from having these guys on your team because they're good players when healthy and helping this team win games. Just because they're not elite players doesn't make them disposable trash.

I don't know why you're pretending like you know exactly how the market will look in 3 years, because you really don't and nobody does.

Never said they are trash....I said they are just meh players on bad contracts.....last time i checked Yak has not done much for the team this year? ....But even if Yak and IQ are in the lineup the teams ceiling is not higher with a healthy AD, or a motivated Ja Morant....Both players at the end of the day raise the ceiling of the team higher than IQ/Yak can....

Thats why these are the type of trades Bobby is looking to make because we don't have Ingram/Barnes forever....We need to add the best players around these two in their primes so we can at least make a legit run in the East vs getting eliminated in the first round....

As much as you want to say we will....Rogers is not going into the Tax with RJ/IQ/Yak on the books....If he is pushing Bobby to make a move with these guys being in trade talks its safe to say they do not see this core as being the future here....

So like i said when a buy low comes around you have to look to make it while its there...

Its either you Tank or you make trades for players like AD/Morant when they are available for a buy low option....You can't laugh at one team building strategy but also on the other side of the coin say every player on the trade market that can help us be more competitive with a higher ceiling "Sucks and should not trade for"

Being 4th in this East means nothing....Come playoff time we can all agree this team is not making it very far without an upgrade....When that upgrade is on the market....That player "Sucks and is too big of a risk".....No duh its a risk because if they were not risks and playing to their full potential they would not be on the market at all considering how good these guys are if they are playing at their full potential...

You have to take the gamble at this point and hope they play to their full potential with us rather than staying stagnant and being okay with losing in the first round.

Except you are wrong.

You don't HAVE to trade for AD or Ja this year like you think. You can 100% just do a small deal to get under the tax and let this year play out. Next year, there will be more guys available.

And according to some, expirings are worth a ton so RJ next year will he worth a lot, right?

Listen, I was 100% fine with the BI trade because we needed a better top scorer and the cost wasn't crazy in a 1st+salary filler.

Ja...his awful shooting would be a huge problem....christ shooting 20% from 3. That plus his PPG going down 5 straight years are major red flags...not to mention the whole gun bs.

On the flipside, having a guard who can beat his man regularly and play above the rim, sure would be nice.

Personally, I would prefer Ball if prices are similar. Better shooting, shot creation, and bigger.

But again, you don't HAVE to make a move. Jumping from a lottery team to a playoff team all while lots of depth guys get minutes during injuries is OK in the process. You don't need to make all the jumps up in 1 year.

not forcing but they need to make the playoffs this year and show something. BI and Scottie are ready to play. Adding another stud to that for cheap is something Rogers would likely strongly support.

After three straight missed postseasons, and with new governor Edward Rogers ready to take full control of the franchise later this year, there is a sense of urgency in Toronto. The Raptors have been on the phones in recent weeks gauging the trade value of some of their players, including RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, numerous sources told ESPN.

ESPN's Shams Charania has reported Toronto's interest in the Mavericks' Anthony Davis and the Grizzlies' Ja Morant, and although other teams could have reservations about taking on long-term money, the Raptors would be swapping out their own long-term contracts to take on those players, removing an impediment to a deal.

Toronto owns all its first- and second-round picks for the next seven years. Two factors rival executives note: A franchise that has been an infrequent taxpayer is about $1 million into the tax, and having all that long-term money to move could dissuade potential trade partners.

"Toronto will have to incentivize real offers with draft capital," one East executive said. "They're going to have to work to avoid the second apron next year with their current roster."

Do you even follow reports or any of the chatter around the Raptors at all? Lol you do realize this has been reported by legit sources? ....Rogers wants to upgrade this year....Bobbys job is on the line as it is far from secure....He is 100 percent getting pressure from uppers to make a move this trade deadline....You are living under a rock? or just don't believe any reporter unless its something you personally agree with?

Yes, I'm living under a rock.

Then, I changed my mind. If legit sauces say Edward wants to upgrade, then it must be so!!!

They want to kick the can down the road and deal with it later

But no, if you see a former allstar being sold for cheap, u go for it and rehab their value. Either for us, or as an expiring contract

Ja's value was a near untradable when he was a 2 time all star and almost became face of the league. You get him and figure out the fit later.

That's an assumption on your part. Darko has been tempering expectations all year long unless you think ownership and FO isn't on the same page or he's just lying.

Lol? Comparing either of these guys to Jermaine is foolish....Are you for some reason in love with IQ/Yak and think they elevate the Raptors now or in the future? and if so please explain because i am seriously curious why trading these guys for upgrades would make you this upset?

Do you enjoy being a middling team? or are you one of them fans that think its easy to land Giannis in a trade and IQ/Yak/RJ will land you Giannis in a trade?
