Make play for Peyton. Although, Denver’s cap situation is quite good next-year, so they would most likely match offers.

I don't see how they can. Looks like their are paying over $180 million next season just for their starters.

You’re right, I was looking at their ranking, 12th in team salary; all the more reason to make a play for Peyton and kick this rebuild up a notch.

Yeah, they're $14M over the tax with just 11 players under contract, and none of them are Peyton Watson. Add in their draft pick and 2 more vet minimum guys and they're $21M over the tax before paying Watson. That's already $38M in luxury taxes. If they pay Watson $25M as their final roster spot, it would end up being a $210M luxtax hit! (That Watson money would be multiplied at an almost 7x tax rate.)
Basically, you can go over the tax by roughly $12M on only face a 1x or 1.25x penalty. Good teams should absolutely do this to hold a title contender together. But for each additional $6M over the tax threshold, the tax multiplier grows really fast. Each marginal dollar between $12M and $18M over the tax threshold is taxed at 3.5x. Between 18M and 24M over the threshold and the penalty is 4.75x. Then it's 5.25x. Then 5.75x. Then 6.25x.
It's really hard to expect a team to pay multipliers of 4x and 5x the cost of a guy's salary.

Heat fans are rioting over how Spo has been using Ware, last night he didn’t play him in the entire second half when the Heat were getting killed on the boards.

Pels play Pacers tonight. Someone will win and help our tank. Speaking of our tank, perhaps in another
thread I mentioned the wizards might not win another
game this month, or actually I said I would not be surprised if that happened. I just want to point out
that that is not quite the same as predicting it will
happen. Only that I see it as within the realm of
possibility.

If I were nitpicking, I prefer the Pacers to win. Only because the Pacers are actively tanking while the Pelicans aren't, as they have no lottery pick this coming draft. I feel like the Pelicans will eventually be out of the bottom 3 or 4 naturally.

Agreed but it's a pick that could go before us
regardless of who ends up with it.

There are some opportunities for some of our competition to get some wins this evening.

I'd really like to see the Hornets beat a tired Nuggets team. The Mavericks have already pulled so far ahead of us that they are off my radar. Hopefully the Hornets can get there too and we will be down to a 5-team tank race between us, Indy, Brooklyn, Utah and New Orleans.
And hopefully New Orleans manages to get out of their own way and starts winning a few games since they have no incentive to tank in the first place.

Dumars Disaster, the Pels may win the tankings at this rate. ATL is getting a Top 1-9 pick.

I have to believe the Pels will win some games near the end to make the trade not look quite so bad.
