I would do the Morant trade if all it took was iq+filler+future 1st, not the 2026... anything more then that i wouldn't do it. If there's chemistry issues you move him, he is expiring after next season, if he pops we have a chance to get out of the east...dont need to over think this...people worried about shooting, isnt IQ supposed to be a great shooter, how is that working out?

I'm not that worried about the baggage tbh. History shows plenty of "headcase" guys eventually figure it out whether it's maturity kicking in or just needing a fresh environment. I'm not saying Morant's a lock to turn it around, but he's undeniably talented and still has a chance to redeem himself. That said, between him and LaMelo I still prefer LaMelo if avail.

What are we giving up to get him is the thing here ....If its a buy low and the players being exchanged is IQ/Filler/1 draft pick....

Whats the PGs job? Running the team, Distrubiting and being a playmaker. Who is better at that IQ or Morant?

What we should do if we land Morant is try and get better shooters on the wings/bench....Sure Quickley can shoot better but Morant is better than IQ at mostly everything else....Id rather have a PG that creates easy shots for everyone and gets by defenders to create openings than a PG who can shoot (But IQ is also very very streaky at that) and can't do anything else to help his teammates get easier looks...

Marant is just a talent upgrade for the team Bobby would still have his work to do and continue to build the team around that group but talent wins in the NBA at the end of the day and Morant is much more talented than IQ is.

I hear you, I just think if some of our main pieces going forward are Barnes, BI and CMB it'll be tough to construct a winning roster if our PG is essentially a non-shooter. I'm not saying we should keep Quick as the PG long term, I just don't think Morant is the answer, especially with two more years at 42 and 45 mil per year. There's got to be a better option.

Not many options on the market when you are looking at Starting level PGs......

Ball-Not on the trade market as there is no legit rumors saying he is
Garland-Also not in any trade rumors, I think Cavs want to keep their team as is
Monk-Not much of an upgrade
Morant

Rest of the PGs are locked up on their teams and not on the trade block.....So if you are looking for an upgrade on Quickley i think on the market for PGS Morant is the best one you can get atm.

Yep, agreed, I'd be excited to see Ball or Garland here, but it doesn't look like they're available. Personally I wouldn't make a move at PG if none are available that clearly make the team better. I'd give the current squad this season to grow together and show what they can do, then adjust in the offseason. But I get the temptation of making a move now seeing how open the east is this year.

(Also, if I'm being honest, I'd maybe be a bit more open to Ja if he wasn't so unlikeable...I just don't want that guy on my team.)

The last 26 year old “headache” we acquired from Memphis worked out quite well….

Wonder if there is a way to use future protected draft capital to obtain both Morant and Sharpe and two deals.

Would probably have to give a second or something to dump Ochai somewhere and duck the tax

I do actually see a world where we have to give Jakob the Lillard treatment and waive his contract. If his back is this bad, I doubt itgets better four years from now.

When you put it like that, 26 is still very young.

Only need 22 million more to get the deal done

IQ/RJ/Jak for Ja/JJJ/Konchar works salary wise. Now you just gotta add what? 4 firsts? More?

Ja//Shead
JKW/Dick
Ingram/Battle
Barnes/Mamu
JJJ/CMB

Grizzlies want to send him to the East from reports, Bucks/Heat both won't get him from reports.....Which other Eastern teams are in play for him besides us?

AD prolly Bobbys first trade target but Morant will be the consolation prize if he can't get the AD trade done.

Why not both? They would be contenders in the east with Ja, b.i, Scottie, AD starting with either dick or walter at the 2

Idk how realistic it is to get both but would be interesting.

We would be deep into tax and a way too overpaid lineup. It’s either Ad or Morant not both.
