Knicks are shopping KAT - Should the Raps pursue?

Post#1 » by LoveMyRaps » Tue Jan 20, 2026 4:42 am

Read on Twitter

According to Knicks fans, he's a very legit/reliable source and the fact that this is leaking means Knicks are very serious about trading KAT.

With that being said... I think KAT would be the perfect fit for this ball club. Given that we've been linked to Sabonis and AD, there's no doubt that Bobby will be calling the Knicks FO.

Should we send IQ home to New York? Poeltl gives New York a defensive minded center, premier roll man, and PNR partner for Brunson.

(feel free to attach an additional pick)

KAT struggles defensively, but we have CMB and Barnes to carry the load on that end of the floor. KAT's offense is exactly what this team needs though.

Knicks aren't gonna trade him to a division rival.

Not a fan of his game but offensively, he is the perfect match for players like BI/Scottie and even CMB. Scottie just may be the right player to mask his defensive issues. Of all the rumors out there, this is the one I'm least against.

Similar to Sabonis in that he's fatally flawed, but he has 3 years and that gets Jak's contract off the books. Costs maybe a pick that the FO wants to throw away anyway.

A legit spacer for a modern offense as the big development bonus for Scottie/CMB. Whatever. Just get one of these done already.

Bobby to Knicks GM: May I interest you by adding a 30 year old C with a broken back, in addition to the batch of former players?

Multiple FRPs.

If they can keep Barnes, CMB, BI and add Towns...

A team looking to win a championship does not want a broken Poeltl and a 6th man earning 32.5M who plays the same position as their best player lol.

If they somehow became delusional or we can find a miraculous way 3 trade then hell yes. KAT is the perfect fit offensively for Barnes/CMB and is actually a good post defender/rebounder.

We can get Shakril to sell Poeltl to the Knicks FO. They’ll buy it!

Towns/CMB/Scottie frontline is so nice. We’d have to throw in BI probably. Not sure why the Knicks do this.

If the salary going out is Quickley and Poeltl, then sure, but no idea why the Knicks would do that. Would probably need to be some 3 way trade.

An Ingram / Barnes / Towns frontline would probably be very good. Scottie is a pretty much ideal player to pair with Towns, as their respective strengths cover for each other's weaknesses, at least in theory.

I would rather have Mitchell Robinson and so would the Knicks. That's the problem with KAT. $55million numbers but he's just not that additive.

I just don't think they would want IQ/Barrett back so i think this trade would be hard to make....None of our players fit what Knicks are trying to do so idk what Knicks want for KAT but idk if we have the right players to make a deal work....They have Brunson so why would they want an expensive IQ? Makes no sense.

If Jak is healthy he is a great fit for the Knicks. I think NY might be thinking of a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 trade. Get a C and more depth pieces. IQ probably needs to get re-routed elsewhere. NY could be a suitor for AD as well. I could totally see Dallas trading AD for Towns and trying to build with KaT, Flagg and Kyrie.
