But KAT is a perfect 5 next to a Barnes 4
On paper sure, but in reality no. KAT is too soft.

Well yeah, not every player is perfect. But you cant ask for a much better fit besides Barnes other than like Wemby, Chet, Jokic, Turner, or JJJ.
KAT throwing up 7-8 three's a night on 40% shooting would completely transform our offence.

Why do the Knicks want to get rid of him

He’s pretty much a neutral or negative asset. I could be convinced if the price is low enough. Wouldn’t include picks.

That's a huge contract, but depending on what we had to give up... getting a 20/11/3 type of player with range who has ANY defensive skills (understanding that he blows in drop coverage) would be pretty nice. But, as they say, the Devil's in the details.

Assuming the assets were the same going the other way, I would take KAT over AD at this point in their careers

I'd take him.
His cement boots defensively will make me want to poke my eyes out, but the offensive talent is worth it.

Based on the rumored teams I think the Knicks are sniffing around to see if they can get Paolo, JJJ or LaMelo. You don’t shake up a contending roster to make OG Anunoby your 2nd option.
I don’t think the other guys are getting traded but he could be interesting for the Magic, for the same reason as the Raptors.

They might be trying to see what they could get for KAT, that the Bucks might be interested in a deal for Giannis, if the Bucks clearly don't want KAT being the main piece coming back in the deal.

Ya, him moving out of the way of contact is actually a benefit to avoiding weird injuries.

obviously he'd help with our disgustingly bad perimeter shooting, but is our defense good enough to absorb the addition of KAT? Once you commit to bring him in, you can't really afford to have any other bad defenders in the starting lineup. Would be interested to know who the front office prefers between him and AD.

Re: Knicks are shopping KAT - Should the Raps pursue?
I'll post the same thing I have for similar players. Scoring in basketball is a zero-sum game. You add a guy who derives disproportionate value from their offensive game, you immediately have to ask what usage does he take from existing players? What's the uptick? Then what's the impact defensively?
I'm not surprised KAT ended up in the same place with the Knicks that he did with the Wolves. I'm sure NY thought their excellent wing D and Mitchell Robinson could mask some of the defensive deficiencies, but turns out Bridges is not as great as advertised and OG can't play at that level without eventually getting hurt and sitting or playing sub-optimally.
As always, depends on the package but KAT's not worth mortgaging significant futures for.

According to Knicks fans, he's a very legit/reliable source and the fact that this is leaking means Knicks are very serious about trading KAT.
With that being said... I think KAT would be the perfect fit for this ball club. Given that we've been linked to Sabonis and AD, there's no doubt that Bobby will be calling the Knicks FO.
Should we send IQ home to New York? Poeltl gives New York a defensive minded center, premier roll man, and PNR partner for Brunson.
(feel free to attach an additional pick)
KAT struggles defensively, but we have CMB and Barnes to carry the load on that end of the floor. KAT's offense is exactly what this team needs though.
I don’t know how serious they are about trading him but if you can get him and yabusele for that package you do that all day every day

Probably because you already have to cover for Brunson defensively. KAT's money could be used better else where. Maybe they want some draft picks to use in other moves as well.
